POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Medical Biller is a key back-office contributor responsible for managing the full lifecycle of claims, including submission, edits, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-up. This role ensures clean claims processing, supports payment reconciliation, and addresses complex billing issues to support timely and accurate reimbursement.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and resolve claim holds and rejections; update and resubmit claims to ensure clean submission to payers.
- Post payments and adjustments using the remit tracking tool, ensuring alignment with Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Conduct follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable (A/R) for both payer and patient balances, as assigned.
- Coordinate with front office staff on patient billing escalations when unresolved at the initial point of contact.
- Support appeals and corrections for underpaid or denied claims.
- Collaborate with other billing team members to maintain an efficient, compliant billing process.
- Maintain documentation of billing activity in accordance with organizational standards and payer guidelines.

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Key Skills and competencies:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience; multi-specialty billing is a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in electronic medical record (EMR) systems, EOB interpretation, payment posting, and A/R management.
- Claims Knowledge: Familiarity with denial management and payer-specific appeal processes.
- Communication: Able to handle escalated patient inquiries with professionalism and clarity.
- Detail Orientation: Ensures data accuracy in claims and payments.
- Workflow Awareness: Understanding of practice operations and call center systems.
