POSITION OVERVIEW

You are responsible for managing the Athenahealth EMR and EMR team, including the EMR format and structure, the creation of new templates, order sets, and other necessary functions. You will also oversee and manage Athena third party integrations and create integration best practices. You will be leveraging EMR data to support internal reporting, including clinical outcomes, financial metrics, operations, and billing. This role requires expertise of Athena architecture and basic data management principles to support business and reporting objectives and long-term strategy for optimal EMR workflow management.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and support the internal Athena EMR team that resolves clinical, administrative, and billing end user help desk tickets
  • Provide Help Desk support to end-users on Athena and Athena-related tools and technologies
  • Act as EMR (Athena SME) and collaborate with clinical and business leaders to strategize, deploy, manage, and continuously enhance EMR and other healthcare applications
  • Plan, design, implement, and maintain Athena EMR software and other applications, while offering continuous optimization and support
  • Lead, plan, and manage implementations, with cross-functional multi-disciplinary teams, for Athena integrations with interfaced systems, including supporting developers on how to execute API related code
  • Identify opportunities for EMR and clinical process and system improvements
  • Understand clinical documentation workflows from end to end in order to configure new Athena basic capabilities, including encounter intake documents, order sets, global macros, etc.
  • Conduct workflow assessments, capture business needs, and analyze internal systems to identify functional requirements for maximizing the utilization of Athena applications
  • Scope interoperability requirements and develop effective technical documentation for EMR integration solutions
  • Communicate project status, updates, and critical milestones to stakeholders, including senior management and external partners
  • Leverage Athena EMR data to develop customized reports and dashboards to meet the needs of various stakeholders
  • Optimize, maintain, and update Athena data configurations and structures to support new and existing projects
  • Understand and translate clinical and business needs into Athena data models to satisfy enterprise analytics & reporting needs
  • Develop operational reports to track key performance indicators and metrics
  • Create and maintain documentation for data architecture, reporting solutions, and Athena configurations
  • Align with EMR and industry best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models
  • Support data migrations and integrations from third party vendors to Athena while maintaining data integrity and optimizing system performance


DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Athena EMR, including optimization and integration
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare data architecture, focusing on EHR optimization
  • Understanding of healthcare industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to E.H.R. optimization, revenue cycle management, and quality reporting
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
