Position: Associate Director - ESG, Policy Advocacy & Service Excellence

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sustainability Reporting & BRSR Compliance

● Ensure compliance with SEBI’s Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting

(BRSR) guidelines for e-commerce and consumer goods distribution sectors.

● Lead the preparation and submission of the BRSR as part of the company's annual

report, with a focus on sustainable sourcing, packaging, logistics, and supply chain

practices.

● Develop and maintain internal sustainability policies, focusing on responsible product

distribution, waste management, and environmental impact reduction.

● Regularly update senior management and the board on sustainability compliance status,

risks, and opportunities, particularly around areas like carbon emissions and resource

efficiency.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

● Engage with key stakeholders, including investors, suppliers, logistics partners,

customers, and employees, to promote sustainability and social impact initiatives within

the e-commerce and consumer goods landscape.

● Collaborate with third-party auditors and consultants to ensure transparency in

sustainability reporting, particularly around responsible sourcing, product lifecycle

management, and the environmental impact of distribution networks.

● Present sustainability insights and performance results to internal stakeholders and at

external forums, highlighting the company’s role in promoting sustainable e-commerce

practices.

3. Sustainability Strategy Goals

● Support the company’s sustainability strategy, focusing on environmental, social, and

governance (ESG) factors, such as reducing the carbon footprint of logistics and

improving packaging sustainability.

● Partner with operations, supply chain, and product teams to integrate sustainability

targets into day-to-day business operations.

● Identify opportunities for sustainable growth in areas like renewable energy use in

distribution centers, eco-friendly packaging, and ethical sourcing of goods.

● Collect, analyze, and report sustainability performance data related to key areas like

carbon emissions from transportation, energy usage in warehouses, and waste

generation.

● Build and maintain a comprehensive data management system to track sustainability

KPIs and ensure accurate reporting across all business units.

● Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions to improve sustainability performance,

such as optimizing logistics routes or reducing the environmental impact of packaging.

4. Social Impact Programs & CSR

● Lead the development of social impact programs aligned with the company’s CSR goals,

focusing on community development, digital inclusion, and fair labor practices in the

supply chain.

● Monitor the effectiveness of social impact programs, ensuring alignment with the

company & sustainability strategy and value creation for communities impacted by e-

commerce growth.

● Partner with NGOs, government bodies, and industry organizations to enhance the

company’s social impact, particularly in rural and underserved markets.

5. Service Excellence for Legal Services

● Collaborate with the in-house legal department to promote service excellence in legal

services across the organization.

● Ensure that the legal department provides timely, effective, and sustainable legal

solutions in line with the company’s business and compliance needs, especially

regarding sustainability, CSR, and regulatory matters.

● Facilitate coordination between legal, sustainability, and operations teams to ensure all

business decisions comply with regulatory frameworks and legal requirements,

particularly those related to environmental and social governance.

6. Training & Capacity Building

● Conduct sustainability training for employees, particularly in logistics, operations, and

supply chain management, to foster a culture of sustainability throughout the company.

● Build organizational capacity to implement sustainable practices across e-commerce

and consumer goods operations, including automation of processes and legal functions.

7. Legal Services Automation

● Work with the legal department to explore and implement legal services automation

solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce manual work, and streamline legal operations.

● Support the implementation of technology-driven solutions like contract management

systems, compliance tracking tools, and automated documentation processes that are

aligned with the company’s sustainability goals.

● Ensure that the automated legal processes comply with industry standards and

contribute to overall service excellence, reducing risks and improving regulatory

compliance, especially in areas related to sustainability and social impact.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Degree/Certification course in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences,

Social Sciences, Business, Law, or a related field.

What We’re Looking For

● 8+ years of experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, CSR, legal services, or social

impact roles within e-commerce, consumer goods, or distribution industries.

● Strong knowledge of SEBI & BRSR compliance framework and sustainability reporting

standards for e-commerce and consumer goods sectors.

● Experience working with sustainable supply chains, packaging, logistics operations,

legal services automation, and process improvement.

Key Skills:

● Comprehensive understanding of sustainability, supply chain optimization, and

consumer goods distribution, along with legal services excellence.

● Proficiency in ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting standards (e.g., GRI, BRSR),

and corporate governance with a focus on e-commerce and legal operations.

● Strong project management skills with cross-functional collaboration, particularly

between sustainability, legal, and operations teams.

● Analytical skills for managing sustainability and legal services data, tracking

performance, and identifying areas for improvement.

● Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement, sustainability reporting, and

legal service training.

Preferred Skills:

● Familiarity with carbon accounting, sustainable packaging, renewable energy solutions

for distribution centers, and legal automation tools.

● Experience in managing sustainability initiatives and legal services excellence in

complex, multi-channel distribution networks and e-commerce platforms.
