Role Overview

We’re seeking a detail-oriented, English and German-speaking part-time (20 hr/week) accountant to support our Finance department in daily operations, payroll, month-end close, and compliance activities for our German and Indian entities. In this role, you’ll manage international payroll processing, assist with financial closes, reconciliations, and audits, prepare reports, and collaborate across departments to ensure accurate, timely financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for booking operational invoices and processing payments
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger maintenance
  • Perform mid-level reconciliations, verify data accuracy, and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare financial schedules, commentary, working capital, and cash flow reports
  • Produce special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
  • Assist with year-end audits and annual controls reviews
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures
    Coordinate with Remote.com (Global Payroll and EOR Services) on processing monthly international payroll for German and Indian entities
  • Ensure execution of financial controls to mitigate risk of errors or misstatements
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as assigned

Tools & Systems Used:
Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets, NetSuite, SaaS payroll platforms (e.g., Remote.com), BambooHR, Oanda (currency conversion)

Candidate Requirements (Background)

  • Language: German (minimum B1/B2 level) required
  • Experience: 1+ years in public or private accounting
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of core accounting principles
    • Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite preferred)
    • Strong business acumen and clear communication skills (verbal/written)
    • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and analytical
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to collaborate across functions and communicate with auditors, vendors, and regulators
