Wordsmith
Most legal teams are drowning. They’re buried under internal questions, contract reviews, policy approvals, and fire drills from every corner of the business.
Wordsmith is the AI command centre for in-house legal. We automate the chaos - intake, Q&A, redlines, drafting, and research - so legal can finally operate at the speed of business.
We’re building the future of legal work. Backed by Index Ventures and some of the sharpest minds in law and AI, we’re scaling fast across London, New York, and beyond.
The Role
As FP&A Analyst, you’ll be responsible for providing the financial insight and analysis that drives our next stage of growth. You’ll build models, track performance, and partner with business leaders to turn data into decisions.
You’ll join at a pivotal moment — the company is scaling rapidly and your work will shape how we plan, forecast, and allocate resources globally across Edinburgh, London, and New York.
What You’ll do
1. Financial Planning & Forecasting
Own and update the company’s financial model (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
Lead budgets, forecasts, and scenario planning with department heads.
Align revenue, headcount, and expense models for accuracy and consistency.
2. Reporting & Insights
Produce monthly reporting packs, dashboards, and variance analyses.
Track core SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, burn multiple).
Support board and investor reporting with clear performance insights.
3. Business Partnering
Partner with leaders across Sales, Marketing, Product, and People.
Provide data-driven recommendations to improve financial discipline and efficiency.
Deliver ad-hoc analysis to guide pricing, resource allocation, and investment.
4. Operational Excellence
Implement and optimize FP&A and BI tools.
Maintain clean, connected data across Finance, CRM, and HR systems.
Automate reporting and support Series B due diligence preparation.
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
2–5 years in FP&A, investment banking, consulting, or finance within a SaaS / tech business.
Strong grounding in SaaS metrics and B2B business models.
Experience with multi-entity or multi-currency environments is a plus.
Skills:
Advanced Excel / Google Sheets modeling (3-statement and driver-based models).
Strong analytical and storytelling ability — can turn data into actionable insights.
Proficiency with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Metabase) and CRM data.
Experience with accounting and ERP systems (Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct).
Mindset:
Low ego, high curiosity — thrives in ambiguity and scaling environments.
Detail-oriented but commercially minded — understands the “why” behind the numbers.
Comfortable working across time zones and collaborating with global teams.
What you can expect
Impact: You’ll sit at the centre of the business, turning data into decisions that shape how we grow
Scope: Own the model, the metrics, and the story — from board reporting to department planning
Tools: Build on a modern FP&A stack and automate the processes most teams still do manually
Exposure: Work directly with leadership across Sales, Product, People, and Marketing
Culture: Ambitious, low-ego, and built for momentum — we move fast and back smart decisions
Growth: Clear path to Finance Manager or Head of FP&A as the team expands globally
