About the Opportunity

As the Food Safety Manager at Wonder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality across our operations. You will partner closely with operational leadership at all levels, serving as a trusted advisor who can collaborate and influence in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you’ll drive continuous improvement of food safety practices and quality metrics, while developing and delivering clear, concise, and well-organized communication and reports for leadership. Your expertise will help safeguard our customers, strengthen our operational excellence, and reinforce Wonder’s commitment to exceptional quality.

This position requires you to be based in or near one of Wonder’s current markets (Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, or the NYC metro area) and be available to travel regularly to assigned locations throughout the Northeast, as well as to future sites in Texas.

The Impact You Will Make

Wonder Restaurant Support (75-80%, 3-4 days per week in the field including some overnight travel)

  • Assist with developing & building consistency in Food Safety programs for Wonder Restaurants including:

    • 3rd Party Food Safety Audit Provider, Pest Control Service Providers, Chemical Vendors, Remote temperature monitoring, Regulatory Agency Inspections, Trending and Improvement opportunities, Special Projects as Assigned.

  • Assist HDRs with correct & compliant use of technology that promotes and enables improved Food Safety deliverables.

  • Supports the resolution and root cause analysis for restaurants following FSQA visits, 3rd party food safety audit, and/or regulatory visits. This includes swift execution of Corrective Action Plans and working with Operational Leaders to ensure sustained improvement.

  • Partner with Operations by providing direct FSQA support and follow up for Imminent Health Hazard events such as power outages, large scale equipment failures, sewage backups, no water, and no hot water, and other events as deemed necessary.

  • Complete cadenced FSQA visits to assigned Wonder restaurant locations to assess daily and long-term performance against Food Safety standards.

Quality Assurance Support (20-25%, 1-2 days per week)

  • Complete all appropriate data entry, detailed trend analysis and report building as assigned related to:

    • Customer Complaints

    • DOH Inspections

    • 3rd Party Food Safety Audit

  • Assist FSQA Leadership with investigations around product batch continuity involved with customer complaints & store level intervention following customer complaints to ensure all proper Investigations, Corrective Actions, and Product Handling Procedures have been completed.

  • Assist with compliance regarding product Investigations, Holds, Recalls, Pull & Purge events, & at the Restaurant Level.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology, Food Science, Chemistry, or Food & Nutrition.

  • 3-5 years relevant experience in a Food Safety capacity in a food preparation/production, food service or food retail environment, preferably multi-unit or multi-site.

  • Experience working closely with Operations & cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, high-expectation food retail environments.

  • Food Safety Certifications – Registered Sanitarian (RS), Certified Professional Food Safety (CP-FS), or Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS).

  • Strong working knowledge of FDA Food Code, State/County/Local Code & Regulations, GMP’s, SSOPs, HACCP, Integrated Pest Management, & Food Safety Management Training Programs.

  • Proven experience managing or supporting food safety programs, including audits, inspections, recalls, and corrective action plans.

  • Experience leading root cause analysis, risk mitigation, and compliance efforts for health hazards, regulatory issues, or critical food safety events.

Geo Tier 1: $128,000 - $135,500 per year.

Geo Tier 2: $115,000 - $122,000 per year.

Wonder uses geographic-specific salary structures, which means the salary offered may vary depending on where the job is located. The final salary offer will take into account various factors, such as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience.
