About The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Controls/Automation Engineer to lead the design and development of control systems for Wonder's new automation products. You will help establish the Electrical Engineering department within the Automation team, and rapidly develop products for Wonders’ next generation restaurants. We are looking for someone who is excited to hit the ground running and be a part of a growing team building new innovative products.

The Impact You Will Make

Design & Engineering

  • Design control panels for Wonder's new automation products, including APC/PLC systems, I/O architecture, safety circuits, power distribution, and pneumatic systems

  • Engineer power and network layouts for medium-scale manufacturing lines

  • Create comprehensive control documentation, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pneumatic diagrams, I/O lists, and technical specifications for engineering and technician teams

  • Develop and maintain a version control system for all electrical schematics and design documentation

  • Coordinate with third-party panel fabrication teams to ensure design intent, technical accuracy, and compliance with specifications

  • Learn control panel and pneumatic schematics for the existing Infinite Kitchen product to assist with support and future fabrication of this product

Project Leadership & Planning

  • Support the complete project lifecycle from initial quoting and design through manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance

  • Create detailed project timelines with clear milestones, deliverables, and resource requirements

  • Identify and propose staffing needs and resource allocation to meet project objectives

Commissioning & Support

  • Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting support during installation, system startup, and ongoing operations

  • Lead commissioning activities to ensure successful system integration and performance validation

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and technician teams

What You Bring to the Table

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field

  • 6+ years of experience in industrial control panel design and automation systems

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical

  • Extensive experience designing power distribution systems for manufacturing environments, including servos, conveyors, heating elements, and sensor networks

  • Strong knowledge of industrial network architecture and protocols including IO-Link, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, CANopen, and OPC UA

  • Experience with local and remote I/O configuration and integration

  • Working knowledge of pneumatic system design and integration

  • Familiarity with B&R automation products and programming environment

  • Experience working with UL-listed products

Professional Skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively

  • Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or technicians (preferred)

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site commissioning and support

This role is based in our Boston office in Charlestown, MA. Our hybrid model requires 4 days a week in the office. That said, many team members choose to come in more often to take advantage of in-person collaboration and connection. You're welcome—and encouraged—to be in the office up to 5 days a week if it works for you.

Massachusetts: $155,000-$163,000 per year.

Wonder uses geographic-specific salary structures, which means the salary offered may vary depending on where the job is located. The final salary offer will take into account various factors, such as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience.
