We’re on the lookout for a creative, strategic, and culturally curious Director of Social Media to shape how Warby Parker shows up online every day. In this role, you’ll set the vision for our social channels and communities, bringing together sharp strategy, exceptional editorial judgment, and deep platform expertise to make Warby Parker impossible to scroll past.

You’ll translate everything that makes Warby Parker, including our point of view, design sensibility, expertise, wit, warmth, and commitment to doing good, into a distinctive social presence. You’ll originate ideas, understand what works on each platform, and know when to join (or sit out) a social conversation—or when there’s an opportunity to start one of our own. You’ll build a social presence that does more than generate engagement.— it’ll earn attention, strengthen affinity, and give people more reasons to love the brand.

This is the perfect role for someone who genuinely loves and understands Warby Parker, has a social-first creative eye and strong point of view, and instinctively knows both what feels right for the brand and what people will care about next. You’ll have your finger on the pulse, plus the strategic and operational chops to turn great ideas into meaningful results. You in? Read on!

What you'll do:

  • Own Warby Parker’s organic social media content, community, and engagement strategy across current and emerging channels, setting the vision for how the brand shows up across every platform, format, and cultural moment
  • Partner with the VP of Brand Marketing to translate the brand messaging into a clear, consistent social point of view that builds awareness and cultural relevance
  • Develop a social content strategy that brings Warby Parker’s brand story to life through distinctive, engaging, and useful content
  • Define the role of each social channel and ensure content is created for the way people use each platform, whether it appears on Warby Parker’s own channels or through creator partnerships
  • Maintain a sharp read on the competitive landscape and ensure Warby Parker occupies the white space between expert authority and cultural relevance
  • Lead and develop the Social Media Manager of Community, setting clear direction and shared accountability for bringing the social content and community strategy to life
  • Oversee social listening, community monitoring, and competitive analysis, ensuring emerging issues are identified early, escalated appropriately, and addressed in close partnership with the Communications team
  • Partner closely with the Brand Design team to bring the social strategy to life—providing social-first creative briefs, directional feedback, and editorial guidance.
  • Partner closely across brand marketing, product strategy, paid media, and retail marketing teams to ensure a cohesive owned/earned approach to campaigns, launches, and always-on storytelling.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Influencer Partnerships on creator strategy and talent partnerships, bringing Warby Parker stories to life across brand and creator channels
  • Bring Warby Parker’s brand voice to life on social, writing and editing sharp, distinctive copy and captions that feel true to the brand and native to each platform
  • Define, own, and report on organic social performance across awareness, reach, engagement, community growth, and other evolving indicators of success
  • Turn performance insights, audience behavior, and platform changes into action, continually refining the strategy to create content that is unmistakably Warby Parker and built to perform
  • Partner with the Growth team to identify high-performing organic and creator content that can be extended through paid media, including whitelisting opportunities
  • Present social performance insights and recommendations to senior leadership with clarity, confidence, and a clear path forward
  • Stay ahead of platform updates, creator economy trends, cultural shifts, and evolving social media guidelines and best practices

Qualifications

  • 9+ years of experience in social media, including at least three years leading social strategy and managing teams for a consumer-facing brand
  • Deep, hands-on platform expertise, including, but not limited to, Instagram and TikTok, with an instinctive understanding of what makes content feel native to each platform and how brands can participate meaningfully in its communities
  • A proven ability to develop and lead an integrated content and community strategy across owned social channels, connecting the dots rather than treating each channel in isolation
  • Demonstrated success in originating social-first content ideas and translating them into clear, compelling creative briefs—providing direction and feedback from initial concept through final execution
  • A thoughtful people manager and trusted cross-functional partner who gives clear feedback, builds strong relationships, and creates room for people to grow
  • Experience managing social budgets and external resources, including content production, freelancers, creators, agencies, and technology vendors, while delivering high-quality work on time and within scope
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, a strong creative point of view, and excellent editorial judgment, with the ability to originate ideas and clearly articulate the strategy behind them
  • Strong project management and communication skills, with high standards for operational excellence across budgets, calendars, timelines, and workflows
  • Adaptable and steady, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond thoughtfully as opportunities and business needs evolve
  • Not on the Office of Inspector General’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)
