At Cloudera, we empower people to transform complex data into clear and actionable insights. With as much data under management as the hyperscalers, we're the preferred data partner for the top companies in almost every industry. As we enter the era of "Intelligence Orchestration," we are bridging data, infrastructure, and governance to deliver a unified hybrid platform.
As the Vice President of Solutions Engineering for the EMEA region, you will be the premier technical executive driving our pre-sales strategy across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Leveraging our "Data Anywhere, AI Everywhere" philosophy, you will lead a world-class team of Solutions Engineers, acting as the strategic glue between Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, and Support. You will ensure that Cloudera’s vision translates into massive business value for our EMEA customers, particularly as we expand our cloud-native portable solutions and integrate our recent acquisitions like Taikun and Octopai.
What You'll Do: Your Impact at Cloudera
Executive Leadership: Manage, scale, and lead a diverse, high-performing EMEA Solutions Engineering organization. Foster a “data-driven” team culture of communication, collaboration, and innovation, identifying upcoming talent to develop them into rock star contributors.
Strategic Sales Alignment: Liaise with Regional Sales Directors (RSDs) on a regular basis to provide input on forecast plans and drive regional revenue targets.
Quota & Organizational Scaling (External Requirement): Manage technical alignment for a multi-hundred-million dollar regional quota, leading a multi-tiered management structure (mentoring Directors and Senior Managers).
C-Level Advisory: Become intimately acquainted with customers’ business requirements and technical needs. Present Cloudera's roadmap, vision, proposed architectures, and business outcomes to all levels—from developers and architects to CTOs and CIOs.
Product Advocacy: Transform customer feedback from the EMEA market into actionable product roadmap items, advocating for regional needs to global Product Management and Engineering teams.
Evangelism: Act as a thought leader in the EMEA market, participating in evangelism activities including the Cloudera Community Connection, blogs, meetups, and industry events.
What You'll Bring: The Skills for Success
Educational Background: A four-year degree (Bachelor's) from an accredited university is required.
Leadership Experience (External Requirement): 15+ years of experience in Enterprise Software pre-sales/solutions engineering, with at least 5+ years at a VP or Senior Director level leading a cross-border EMEA organization.
Technical Depth: Deep Enterprise Software and Big Data experience (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Hive). You are comfortable with native Cloud Service Provider architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and understand hybrid deployment factors (public, private, and hybrid clouds).
Enterprise Architecture Vision: To you, a Data Lake is more than "dump your data here." You deeply understand the problems of Operations, Security, and Data Governance within the large enterprise.
Data & AI Innovation: An interest and background in Data Science, understanding the crucial difference between Data Engineering and Data Science, and how it applies to Enterprise AI.
Cross-Cultural Acumen (External Requirement): Proven success operating across the diverse business cultures, data privacy regulations (like GDPR), and compliance standards unique to the EMEA region.
Cultural Alignment: You reflect the Cloudera Code: striving for equality, acting with commitment and integrity, and taking calculated risks to push past what has always been done.
Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
