Cloudera is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager with a strong technical background to join the Data Visualization team and help drive development of Cloudera’s next-generation visual applications product. You will be responsible for managing a team that will design, build, and deliver a platform that accelerates user driven data analytics from exploration to production. This role requires a customer-focused mindset and close collaboration with engineers, designers, docs, support, and product management.

As a Senior Engineering Manager you will...

  • Work with the Product Manager to define capabilities and priorities for the product based on customer use-cases

  • Manage growth of the team and individual team members

  • Address gaps in process and practices within the team or organization and promote enhanced developer velocity and team agility

  • Assist in ensuring regular and timely product releases

  • Host Data Visualization field office hours; answer questions from the field and internal users

  • Assist with urgent engineering escalations from customers

  • Collaborate with engineers, UX designers, docs, support, and external teams

  • Build quality relationships with Product Management, Field Engineering, and other external partners

We are excited about you if you have...

  • 7+ years of experience developing applications using JavaScript or python; optionally 3+ years of management experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Good understanding of engineering best practices

  • Ability to drive the architecture/design and provide technical guidance to the team

  • Self-motivated and with a strong sense of ownership and craftsmanship

You might also have...

  • Experience with frontend JavaScript frameworks like React

  • Experience with server-side python and Django tooling

  • Experience with containerization (Kubernetes)

  • Experience building scalable, robust and secure Enterprise applications

  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCE, Azure)

  • Experience with building and deploying generative AI applications
