Mid-Senior levelJob Description:
At Cloudera, we empower people to transform complex data into clear and actionable insights. With as much data under management as the hyperscalers, we're the preferred data partner for the top companies in almost every industry. Powered by the relentless innovation of the open source community, Cloudera advances digital transformation for the world’s largest enterprises.
The Engineering Program Team at Cloudera is looking for a Program Manager to support our Security and Compliance initiatives, to help make our products safe for use and to protect our customers data. A successful candidate will have exceptional program/project management skills, excel at collaboration and building relationships, and have strong technical abilities. We’re looking for someone who can help ship software and models to our customers on schedule and with high quality. One who is a passionate, innovative, results-oriented Program Manager to join the Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) Program Team.
At Cloudera, information security and compliance are among our most critical concerns, where the security of our customer’s data and resources is critical to our success. We don’t just talk the talk; we help engineers at Cloudera walk the walk by making security easy for them. Security can often be a burden when it comes too late. We aim to shift security work to where it is cheapest and easiest to implement. We do this by integrating security into existing development processes and focusing on security processes and tools where they matter most.
As a Program Manager for the security and compliance initiatives, you will help plan, manage, drive and execute programs for security, compliance, and certification. You will work closely with our Information Security team, Development team, Release Engineering team, Product team, Infra team, Doc team, Legal team, Biz Ops team to coordinate, justify, and prioritize new security certification plans and efforts.
As a Program Manager you will:
Drive cadence of owned releases. This means you will own setting schedules for releases driven by data and guidance from Engineering and Product. Collaborate closely with Engineering Managers to identify and mitigate risks, proactively remove obstacles, and handle issues. Build relationships and trust with influencers and drive programs with compassion and integrity.
Drive day-to-day release activities. Collaborate with Development, Release Engineering, Web, Docs, Legal, Product Security and other cross-functional teams to plan, execute and deliver various programs. Ensure objectives and key results are well defined. Ensure there is broad agreement and alignment on them and execute to achieve timely delivery. Post announcements and ensure that the release day checklist is complete. Coordinate release deliverables with geographically and time zone distributed teams.
Drive retrospectives. Ensure there is tracking for action items and retrospective is reviewed by Engineering Management and published. Ensure that action items are scheduled and resolved in agreed upon time.
Track status and communicate. Provide periodic status reporting to management on in flight releases. Keep engineering teams informed of releases and expectations around them.
Do process development and metrics tracking. Identify process gaps in release processes. Drive the closure of these gaps (this does not mean the Program Manager owns every process, though they can, but ensures there is an owner and progress is being made on improvements). Ensure processes are reviewed with the appropriate management and are duly published and communicated. Ensure Program Management and Release Engineering are aligned with how we want to make releases. Ensure streamlining to enable processes improvement as needed, achieving greater effectiveness and efficiency over time. Make sure that a release is an automatic artifact of the development process and that cross-team coordination is reduced.
