Cloudera is seeking a dynamic and highly technical Solution Engineering Manager to lead our presales efforts, drive technical excellence, and build a world-class team in our Seoul office.
As the Solution Engineering Manager you will:
Lead and manage the Solution Engineering team in Korea, setting strategic direction, and ensuring alignment with regional sales goals and global product initiatives.
Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Solution Engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, customer empathy and clear communication in English.
Partner with Sales Leadership to develop account strategies, qualify complex opportunities, and define the technical win strategy for key enterprise accounts in Korea.
Act as the technical voice of the customer to Product and Engineering teams, providing crucial feedback to influence the platform roadmap for the Korean market.
Lead the technical design, proof-of-concept (POC) delivery, and demonstration of the company’s data platform to C-level executives, IT leaders, and data science teams.
Translate complex customer business challenges (e.g., data governance, real-time analytics, Generative AI applications) into compelling, tailored technical solutions that clearly demonstrate ROI.
Develop and maintain technical assets, including solution reference architectures, workshops, and competitive intelligence materials specific to the Korean cloud landscape (e.g., local hyperscalers and data laws).
Serve as the final technical escalation point for the team, maintaining deep, hands-on knowledge of the platform and adjacent technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Spark, Python, SQL).
We’re excited about you if you have:
10+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Solution Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Technical Architect).
3+ years of direct people management or technical team leadership experience is strongly preferred
Demonstrable expertise in data management, data warehousing principles, data modeling, and data governance.
Experience with major Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) or Private Cloud Platforms and their data services.
Exceptional English communication skills verbal, written, and presentation, enabling effective collaboration with global teams and customers.
Proven ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder technical engagements in a fast-paced environment.
You may also have:
Fluency or high proficiency in Business Korean (TOPIK Level 4 or higher).
Prior experience working in the Korean market with large conglomerates (chaebols) or government agencies.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
