Job Description
We are looking for a full-stack developer (mid-level) to help build and maintain web applications and services for analyzing and exploring genomic data. Our data platform is fully powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) so the ideal candidate will have experience with frontend and backend development that utilizes a host of various AWS services. The candidate will also work closely with scientists to understand the needs of the team and build out tools that will drive cutting edge scientific research. Due to the sensitive nature of genomic and health data, the candidate will be responsible for helping ensure all internally developed software platforms meet the highest security standards. While experience in every listed technology is not mandatory, the ideal candidate should have familiarity with them or demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies. This role reports to the principal software engineer of the company’s Genomic Discovery team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain web-based applications used internally by scientists to explore complex health and genomic data.
- Develop and maintain internal APIs and services that power the data platform leveraged by scientists to query and analyze our extensive datasets.
- Create and ensure documentation remains up-to-date for newly developed features.
- Deliver prompt support to application users to ensure a positive and seamless experience.
- Ensure that internally developed applications comply with established security protocols, monitor platforms for security threats, and continuously improve security capabilities.
- Deploy application updates and maintain separate development and production environments for testing.
Qualifications
- Innovative Problem Solver - Able to collaborate with others and also work independently to ideate and develop creative solutions to data exploration needs within the team with some guidance.
1+ Year(s) Familiarity with AWS - Experience working with AWS including knowledge of EC2, IAM, S3, Lambda, Cognito, RDS, and Elastic Beanstalk. Nice to have experience includes VPC, Athena, ECR, and Bedrock.
3+ Years of Development Experience - Hands-on development experience with Javascript including React.js and Node.js libraries, HTML, and CSS. Familiarity with Python and FastAPI is also a plus.
Database - Experience querying MySQL databases.
Project Management - Ability to maintain and develop software using version control platforms like GitHub, development management systems like Jira, and deployment platforms like GitHub actions.

Anticipated annual base salary for this position is $110,00-155,000 plus up to 10% bonus and an options package, for total compensation of up to $121,000-170,500, plus equity options.
The annual salary range above is based on the responsibilities and qualifications listed above. Individual salary will depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
