Meet the Growth Marketing Team:

The Growth Marketing Team is made up of innovative individuals focused on growing the user base across fuel, restaurant, and grocery and nurturing our existing customers. With a heavy emphasis on data and experimentation, the team tests performance across a variety of channels, including radio, digital, and outstanding referral programs, which creates space for creativity and diverse ideas. The team also owns the user experience once they sign up for the app, sending tens of millions of engaging and relevant emails, push notifications, and in-app messages each month to drive app usage. The Growth Marketing team works closely with writers, designers, creative strategists, data analysts, and others from across the organization to serve our 5M users and touch millions more through our marketing channels.

About the Job:

Upside has millions of users that use our app and partner apps to find personalized cash back offers across gas, restaurants, and grocery. We have a goal to 2x the number of yearly transactions that run through Upside this year, so we are looking for our first Marketing Operations team member to scale processes and build efficiencies in support of our marketing team. This Senior Email Developer will be a critical component of our ability to communicate with our users at scale!

What you’ll do:

  • Manage key marketing systems like Iterable to power the primary ways we connect with users (e.g., email campaigns, push notifications, in-app notifications, etc.).
  • Maintain the organization of those systems by organizing email inventory and cleaning user lists.
  • Create workflows that organize how, when, and to whom messages are sent, and use webhooks to change users’ experience within the app.
  • Enable hyper-personalized campaigns by setting up catalogs that auto-populate content based on each user’s experience, location, and other criteria.
  • Guarantee accuracy, clarity, and functionality of messages by proofreading copy, ensuring images render correctly, testing hyperlinks, etc.
  • Work closely with Growth Marketers to configure and run experiments like A/B tests and document their results to inform future campaigns and initiatives.
  • Monitor and record the performance of campaigns, including deliverability, open rates, clickthrough rates, etc.
  • Provide additional support to the Growth Marketing team as needed, which could include generating reports, marketing QA or creating promo codes.
  • Senior recurring audits of existing workflows and processes to make optimization recommendations.

What you need:

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in email marketing, specifically using Iterable.
  • Experience using HTML and CSS.
  • Collaborate with our Marketing, IT, and Operations teams to combine strategy and data for highly-personalized, dynamic emails built with RPL (Responsys Personalization Language)
  • Experience with campaign setup, audience segmentation, delivery monitoring, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of Excel with the ability to use data to assess the success of marketing initiatives.
  • Superior writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to quality (i.e., you’ll notice if there’s an extra space between two sentences and are happy to run through the system as many times as it takes to ensure it's just right).
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines.
