Position Overview
We are seeking a Controller with a CPA designation to oversee all aspects of financial management, accounting operations, and compliance. This role will report to the VP of Finance and be responsible for ensuring accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in our financial processes as the company scales. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in accounting standards, financial reporting, and internal controls, along with a hands-on approach suited to a dynamic startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Own all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and revenue recognition.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Collaborate with VP of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements.
Establish, implement, and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies.
Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
Partner with leadership to evaluate financial performance, KPIs, and investment opportunities.
Drive process improvements and implement systems to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.
Support fundraising, investor reporting, and board presentations with clear financial insights.
Qualifications
CPA license required.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5–10 years of progressive accounting experience; prior experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller role is a plus.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and audit practices.
Experience preparing for or managing and external audit preferred
Experience in gaming, fintech, or other regulated industries is a plus.
Proficiency with QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
Comfort with ambiguity, managing priorities, problem-solving and a bias for action
Big 4 experience a plus
