About Transfyr
Transfyr is building physical AI for science.
Why is it that a professional athlete has dramatically more information about every play they make than a scientist has about the cause of any experimental failure? Science has no film room, no instant replay. Instead, a protocol says what was meant to happen. A publication is a lossy record of what might have worked. But all the small decisions and invisible actions that determine whether an experiment succeeds, fails, or transfers to the next lab often disappear the moment the work is done or a scientist leaves.
That missing record is why it has been so hard to automate the physical work of science. It’s why training still remains dependent on scarce, one-to-one apprenticeship. It’s why tech transfer typically requires expensive troubleshooting and is one of the biggest causes of drug launch delays. It’s why scientists struggle to distinguish between biological noise and process variability.
We’re changing that. Transfyr builds physical AI systems that capture real scientific work and turn it into a high-fidelity, machine-readable record of execution and analysis of where process variability is impacting results. In doing so, we are also building the world’s largest commercial dataset on real-world scientific execution. The result is infrastructure that helps teams learn from failures, transfer hard-won know-how, train the next generation of scientists, and give models and robots the grounded data they need to be useful in the real world.
We’re tackling some of the hardest problems at the intersection of frontier science, perception, machine learning, and robotics and have significant traction. We’re backed by a $25M seed round, are collaborating with the largest frontier AI labs, and our advisors include Chris Ré (Stanford), David Baker (Nobel winning UW professor), Kevin Weil (fmr CPO at OpenAI), Steve Quake (Stanford biophysicist), Ken Frazier (fmr CEO of Merck), and Jakob Uszkoreit (CEO of Inceptive and author of “Attention Is All You Need”).
We’re unapologetically ambitious and pragmatic. If you want to work on the hardest problems in the most important industry on earth, join us.

The Role
As a Technical Delivery and Business Development Lead at Transfyr, you will play a role in the full lifecycle of customer engagement, from customer discovery to milestone execution and technical translation. At Transfyr, success isn't about closing one-off business transactions; it's about turning ambitious technical conversations into shared understanding, co-designing pilot deployments, and managing those projects to ensure real scientific and commercial value is delivered.
You will work closely with our founders, scientists, and engineers to identify the right partners, understand what they are trying to accomplish, and shape opportunities that fit both their needs and our product direction. You will move from first conversation to qualified opportunity, pilot design, proposal writing, scope of work, commercial terms, and signed partnership. Once partnerships kick off, you’ll support the technical management to make sure deliverables are on track, value is delivered, and identify opportunities to grow and expand successful partnerships.
This is neither a transactional sales role, nor standard project management role. Our customers and partners operate in technically complex environments, and the right engagement is rarely obvious at the beginning. You will need to bring to the table enough science and technology to ask good questions, translate between technical and executive audiences, and develop a point of view about what Transfyr should and should not pursue.
The role demands strong commercial judgment, exceptional writing, disciplined follow-through, and a genuine interest in how AI and physical systems can change scientific work. You should be equally comfortable leading an executive conversation, working through the details of a proposal, building a budget, and chasing the final dependency that gets an agreement signed.
This role is in-person in Cambridge, MA, with travel for partner meetings as needed.
A tip: While we welcome direct applications, we prefer warm introductions. If you’re really interested in Transfyr, we strongly recommend you get an introduction from someone who knows you well and whose opinion we’re likely to trust. And in general, the strongest way to get our attention is to show us what you have built, solved, or learned that is relevant to this role.
What you’ll accomplish with us:
Build a strategic pipeline: Identify and qualify potential partners where Transfyr can solve an important problem and learn something strategically valuable.
Shape technical-commercial engagements: Work with science, AI/ML, engineering, and operations to design scopes, milestones, deliverables, budgets, and success criteria that are ambitious and executable.
Become a master storyteller: Create clear, persuasive decks, proposals, briefs, and follow-up materials that help different audiences understand why our approach matters.
Move agreements forward: Coordinate diligence, stakeholder alignment, pricing, negotiation, contracting, and internal approvals without losing momentum or trust.
Build scalable systems: Create lightweight pipeline discipline, account plans, decision records, reusable proposal materials, and operating rhythms that make the commercial team more effective as it grows.
Protect focus: Distinguish high-potential partnerships from distractions and help the company place deliberate bets rather than chasing every interesting conversation.
Own technical project delivery: As needed, serve as the primary partner-facing project manager during launches. Coordinate hardware/software setup, track milestones, unblock operational friction, and keep deployments running smoothly.
Who you are
High agency. You create momentum, close loops, and move from vague interest to a concrete next step without waiting for detailed instructions.
Biased toward action. You produce a strong first draft, get it in front of the right people, and improve it quickly.
Commercially creative. You can find the structure that creates value for both sides instead of forcing every opportunity into the same template.
Technically curious. You want to understand the science, product, and implementation details well enough to represent them accurately.
Persuasive and honest. You can create urgency and excitement without overpromising or hiding uncertainty.
Organized. You manage many relationships and dependencies while keeping details, owners, and commitments straight.
Clear, direct communicator. You write well, prepare carefully, and know how to adjust the level of detail for scientists, operators, executives, and investors.
Intense. You care deeply about the mission, work hard when it matters, and help a small team do outsized work.
What you know:
Complex business development: Experience developing partnerships, enterprise opportunities, strategic accounts, or commercial programs where the product and deal had to be shaped together.
Opportunity qualification: Ability to assess customer need, strategic value, technical feasibility, economics, stakeholder commitment, and likelihood of execution.
Proposal development: Experience producing high-quality decks, proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and decision materials with input from technical teams.
Deal execution: Working knowledge of pricing, negotiation, contracting, procurement, and the internal coordination required to move a complex agreement forward.
Executive engagement: Comfort building trust with senior leaders while developing strong working relationships with the technical and operational people who will make the partnership succeed.
Pipeline discipline: Experience maintaining accurate opportunity stages, next steps, risks, and decision context in a CRM or similar system.
Analytical fluency: Ability to develop a market view, assess an opportunity’s economics, and turn incomplete information into a clear recommendation.
Learning velocity: Curiosity and the ability to become conversant quickly in AI, scientific workflows, multimodal data, physical systems, and the markets around them.
Other things we like to see:
Experience in life sciences, biotechnology, AI, robotics, research tools, or another technically complex market
Experience working directly with founders or a small leadership team
A record of creating a new partnership motion, market, or category rather than only operating an established sales process
Experience turning an early pilot into a larger commercial relationship
Strong references from both customers and technical teammates
A genuine interest in how science is done, not only what science discovers
