What’s The Role?
We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our engineering team and drive technical excellence across our systems. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing high-scale applications using Ruby on Rails, Active Record, Sidekiq, Docker, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and AWS services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, maintainable, and resilient architectures while mentoring engineers and contributing to our overall technical vision.
What You’ll Do:
Architect, develop, and optimize scalable applications using Ruby on Rails and Active Record.
Design, implement, and maintain background job processing with Sidekiq.
Optimize database performance for PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker.
Design and implement distributed, fault-tolerant systems within the AWS ecosystem (e.g., EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, ECS, etc.).
Ensure high availability, security, and scalability of the application infrastructure.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality features.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering teams.
Drive best practices in code quality, testing, automation, and DevOps.
What You Bring:
8+ years of experience in software engineering with expertise in Ruby on Rails.
Strong understanding of Active Record, Sidekiq, and background job processing.
Experience with PostgreSQL (query optimization, indexing, replication, and tuning).
Experience working with DynamoDB and NoSQL database patterns.
Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
Deep knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, and IAM.
Proven experience building distributed, scalable systems.
Strong grasp of software engineering best practices, including testing, CI/CD, and DevOps.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
Experience working in an Agile development environment.
