The Role
execution across packaging, brand campaigns, retail, digital, Honest.com, and licensed partnerships, partnering closely with external creative agencies on creative strategy and concept development. This leader translates brand and marketing strategy into clear creative direction, oversees executional excellence, and ensures that all creative work - whether developed internally, by agencies, or by licensing partners - reflects Honest’s brand identity, standards, storytelling, and visual integrity. This role reports directly to the SVP, Integrated Marketing & Communications.
Creative Leadership
- Ensure consistent implementation of The Honest Company’s holistic brand identity and visual system, ensuring alignment to mission and design consistency across baby, adult, and apparel categories.
- Lead creative concept for brand campaigns, product launches, digital experiences, retail, and social content.
- Partner closely with brand, marketing and consumer insights colleagues to craft unified brand narratives that resonate with modern families.
- Translate brand strategy and insights into creative direction that feels human, elevated, and distinctly Honest.
- Champion creative excellence, balancing strategic business objectives with bold, emotionally engaging design.
- Own the creative and visual experience of Honest.com, ensuring a cohesive, elevated, and on-brand digital presence.
Design/Art Direction & Execution
- Direct photo and video shoots, defining visual tone, styling, color, and composition across lifestyle and product imagery.
- Oversee the design of packaging, web, digital, and print assets to ensure visual cohesion and craft quality.
- Oversee art design and creative direction of public filings and investor communications.
- Provide detailed direction and feedback to in-house designers and freelancers.
- Maintain an active, hands-on role in the creation of key brand assets — concept sketches, storyboards, design explorations, and final layouts.
- Define and track success metrics for design effectiveness and impact.
Licensing Creative Oversight
- Serve as the internal creative owner for Honest’s brand licensing partnerships (licensees), acting as the primary steward of the brand identity.
- Establish and communicate clear creative standards, guidelines, and guardrails for licensees, ensuring faithful, high-quality representation of the Honest brand.
- Review and approve licensee-developed creative across packaging, product, retail, and marketing assets to ensure alignment with Honest’s brand identity, visual standards, and storytelling.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure licensing partners are equipped with the right brand assets, messaging, and direction.
- Ensure broader brand and marketing priorities are clearly communicated to licensees, while proactively flagging risks or misalignment.
- Act as a key point of integration between licensing partners and internal Marketing teams, ensuring learnings, feedback, and upcoming plans are shared appropriately.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Serve as the primary internal creative manager of external agencies, providing clear direction, feedback, and prioritization.
- Collaborate with Marketing Communications colleagues to deliver cohesive campaign plans that align with strategic goals.
- Manage the Web Manager and partner closely with E-commerce and Marketing teams to align creative execution with business goals.
- Mentor and inspire designers, copywriters, and production partners to push creative boundaries.
- Partner with insights and analytics teams to test, learn, and optimize creative based on performance and consumer feedback.
- Partner with executive leadership, brand, retail and investor relations to ensure creative campaigns and assets align with strategic goals.
- Allocate resources, manage workloads, and plan capacity across teams and project.
Compensation
The pay range for this role is $170,000 - $210,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
The total rewards package for this position may also include base, annual incentive plan, benefits, retirement plan, equity, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
