Summary of Position
This position is a senior management role for a candidate who is motivated to lead a critical provider-facing platform team at Teladoc, responsible for powering how providers connect, manage their availability, and participate in care workflows. This role sits at the intersection of healthcare interoperability, provider experience, and platform engineering, requiring a candidate motivated to combine the art of leadership with technical expertise in programming.
The leader will own key domains foundational to Teladoc’s virtual care ecosystem, including partner and EHR integrations using industry standards (FHIR, HL7, SMART on FHIR), modern APIs, provider availability and scheduling platforms, as well as the provider “digital door” for authentication, authorization, and secure access to clinical workflows.
The ideal candidate must be technically deep and organizationally strong—capable of setting platform strategy, solving complex challenges in sophisticated software systems, scaling solutions used by thousands of providers, and leading a senior engineering team to deliver innovative, reliable, compliant, and extensible products through cross-functional collaboration and high code quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Platform & Domain Ownership
Own the end-to-end architecture and execution for:
– Partner and EHR integrations (FHIR-first, API-driven, event-based)
– Provider availability, scheduling, and booking systems
– Provider digital door capabilities, including authN/authZ, identity, and secure session management
Drive platform reliability, scalability, and performance across all owned domains.
Establish clear domain boundaries, APIs, and ownership models to enable parallel innovation across teams.
Interoperability & Integrations
Define and evolve a modern interoperability strategy leveraging FHIR, SMART on FHIR, HL7 v2/v3, and APIs.
Build reusable integration patterns for EHRs, partners, and internal consumers.
Own technical relationships with EHR vendors and strategic integration partners.
Reduce partner onboarding and integration timelines through standardization and platform capabilities.
Provider Experience & Access
Partner closely with product, clinical, and operations teams to enable seamless provider workflows.
Ensure provider onboarding, authentication, authorization, and scheduling experiences are secure, intuitive, and resilient.
Translate regulatory, compliance, and security requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Engineering Leadership
Lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers and technical leads across multiple domains.
Set technical vision, engineering standards, and best practices for platform development.
Drive a culture of ownership, quality, and operational excellence.
Mentor senior engineers and leaders; participate in hiring and succession planning.
Hands-on application development and optimization. Document product requirements and create architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with systems/platforms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with product management to shape roadmaps and prioritize platform investments.
Collaborate with security, compliance, and privacy teams to ensure HIPAA-compliant and secure architectures.
Align with data platform teams to support analytics, reporting, and real-time workflows.
Foster collaboration between local and abroad development teams to drive consistency across all departments
Represent the IT point of view in meetings with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in software engineering.
5+ years leading platform or domain-oriented engineering teams.
Deep experience with healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, SMART on FHIR).
Proven experience building and operating large-scale, API-driven platforms.
Strong understanding of identity, authentication, and authorization systems.
Experience integrating with EHRs such as Epic, Cerner, Athena, or similar platforms.
Strong architectural judgment and ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term platform health.
Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Pub/Sub).
Knowledge of clinical workflows and healthcare data models.
Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
