What will you do in SuperPlay?

Our role as a Technical Artist is to bridge the gap between the creative, programming, and engineering teams in game development, acting as a liaison between the heads of programming and design teams, and researching and developing technical tools for a project by:

  • Collaborate with artists and engineers to create workflows and pipelines for asset creation.
  • Validate and optimize assets and game content ensuring all content is visually stunning and optimally performant.
  • Create visual effects from concept, using simulations, particle systems, shaders and other in-engine tools.
  • Develop scripts and tools in-engine and in-pipeline to facilitate asset management, export and validation.
  • Collaborate with animators, visual artists and developers to create complex interactive sequences and transitions in-engine.
  • Develop shaders and tools for artists to bring artistic visions to life in an interactive way.
  • Implement game UI in engine, going from design to fully functional, well structured and modular screens.

Requirements

  • High attention to detail.
  • High-level artistic skills, including proportion, color, and composition.
  • A strong portfolio or demo reel.
  • 5+ years of experience working on content in-engine (Unity/Unreal/In-house).
  • Scripting experience – game logic or tool focused. Preferably C# or Python.
  • Shader development experience – either in-engine or renderer specific (HyperShade, OSL)
  • Good understanding of rendering pipelines, including familiarity with different lighting and shading techniques and post processing effects.
  • Good understanding of 3D content components - understanding of geometries, topologies, textures, UV maps, skins, rigs, etc.
  • Proficiency with digital art creation and relevant tools for digital illustration, sculpting and modelling.

Advantage:

  • Experience with Maya – including modelling and exporting.
  • Experience with MELScript / Python for Maya.
  • Experience with Unity.
  • Experience with C#.
  • Experience with shader development using GLSL/HLSL.
