Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the Team

The Money Management Risk team sits at the heart of Stripe's rapidly growing Money Management product suite—the products that let Stripe users manage their funds, optimize FX, manage liquidity, payout vendors, issue cards, access financing, and run their entire financial lifecycle on Stripe. Money Management was a headline launch at Sessions '25 and continues to be one of Stripe's highest-growth investment areas.

Within Money Management, our team owns the risk, compliance, and fraud layer across the full product's surface. We build the systems that make it possible for Stripe to offer the money management products responsibly and at scale — from onboarding eligibility decisions and ongoing compliance controls, to ML-powered fraud detection and real-time transaction monitoring. Our work touches every Money Management product and every stage of the user lifecycle.

We sit at a unique crossroads: we work across nearly every Money Management product, partner deeply with many cross functional teams, and ship user-facing controls, APIs and internal systems that are foundational to Stripe's ability to offer financial products at the pace and scale our users demand.

What you'll do

We are seeking an experienced technical leader to shape the evolution of our technical and product vision for risk across Money Management. You will partner with engineering managers, senior engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to set the direction and drive architecture decisions that affect multiple product areas.

Responsibilities

  • Own and build solutions to high-impact, complex problems. Navigate the inherent tension between delivering the best possible user experience and enforcing the risk controls that keep Stripe and its users safe.
  • Design and build core systems. You'll write code, review designs, and stay close to the technical details.
  • Navigate ambiguous technical challenges, breaking down complex problems into actionable solutions and driving them from inception to successful deployment.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including compliance, risk strategists, and product managers to shape the right solutions.
  • Partner with Engineering Management, Product Managers, and key leaders across the company to create and drive toward the longer-term vision.
  • Enable the team to execute effectively against both short-term and long-term roadmaps, making tradeoffs that balance business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.
  • Mentor and develop other team members to become the next generation of technical leaders at Stripe.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 10 + years of engineering experience or equivalent, with a track record of designing and building high-impact products and systems.
  • Proven experience as a technical lead. You've defined roadmaps, driven architecture decisions, and delivered complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions.
  • You have a user-first mindset; you care deeply about the product experience and the users who rely on the systems you build.
  • You’re self-directed and can operate autonomously across multiple teams to deliver scaled impact.
  • Empathy and strong communication skills. You can convey complex technical topics with clarity to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders. Able to drive clear next steps in ambiguous spaces without clear lines of ownership.
  • Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and have a curiosity to learn the domain to a deep level.
  • Mentored senior engineers and meaningfully empowered their growth.

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiarity with compliance, risk, or fraud systems.
  • Experience working in payments, fintech, or financial services platforms.
  • Experience working in high-growth teams similar to Stripe.

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is £128,800 - £193,200. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
