About the team

The MMS Funding team builds the APIs and products which allow users to move their own money into Stripe. We enable users to send tens of billions of dollars to Stripe each year, for purposes such as making payouts, spending on cards or covering payment refunds.

The team builds and maintains Topup and Funding APIs. These allow users to send credit transfers to Stripe on local bank rails or debit their external bank accounts to pull funds into Stripe. We work closely with the banking integration teams to expand to new countries and the product teams to build dashboard user interfaces upon our APIs.

What you’ll do

We are looking for an engineering leader to build the team and drive the technical vision and design of the product. This role is critical, not only for the millions of merchants that use Stripe but their users as well.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with stakeholders across product, design, infrastructure, marketing, and operations to ensure alignment on projects and objectives.
  • Owning problems from end-to-end by managing diverse systems, processes, and technologies, while continuously seeking opportunities to optimize efficiency and user experience.
  • Upholding high engineering standards, ensuring consistency across codebases, and implementing best practices throughout your team.
  • Recruiting top engineering talent in partnership with Stripe’s recruiting team to build a diverse and high-performing team.
  • Supporting your team members' career growth by providing insights and development opportunities tailored to their goals.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

  • You have a strong technical sense and think rigorously about architecture and product decisions
  • You thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
  • You enjoy developing and mentoring engineers

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in Fintech/bank transfers is a plus but not a requirement
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.
