Stori is looking for a dynamic Technical Accounting Manager as we build out our Controllership department. Reporting to the Global Financial Reporting Senior Manager in the United States, this role will obtain exposure to all aspects of the general ledger and closing process and will have the opportunity to learn from and contribute to significant change initiatives. This role is based in Arlington, Virginia or Washington DC Area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA/CA required
  • 6+ years of accounting experience, preferable working in Big 4 / Fintech / Financial Institutions
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and background over key accounting concepts including accounting for credit losses, revenue recognition, derivatives and financial instruments, intangible assets, equity and stock-based compensation under US GAAP.
  • Intermediate to advance level of english
  • Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments and can easily adapt to change and re-prioritize
  • Detail-oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks and work within deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in consumer credit or financial service providers.
  • Prior experience with financial statement consolidation and financial reporting, preferably with multiple entities
  • Experience with major ERP systems - Netsuite preferred.
  • knowledge of IFRS or Banking Accounting a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge or background working with US tax requirements
  • Knowledge or background in SOX compliance and internal controls

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical accounting memos and policies to document the company's accounting positions and ensure compliance with US GAAP and other relevant reporting standards
  • Conduct thorough accounting research on complex transactions and new accounting standards. Provide guidance and recommendations to senior management.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for technical accounting topics
  • Prepare technical audit deliverables and work with external auditors
  • Asset with preparation of the consolidated financial statements, including footnote disclosures
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to address accounting issues and support business initiatives.
  • Provide training and support to the finance team on technical accounting matters and new accounting standards
  • Work on ad-hoc accounting and finance projects
