The Role:
As the Director of Data Science at Stori, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the data science strategy to align with and enhance our business objectives. This position is designed for a visionary leader who can bridge the gap between advanced data science techniques and practical business applications, ensuring that data-driven insights translate into tangible business outcomes. Your work will be crucial in transforming data into actionable strategies that drive growth, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
Main responsibilities:
- Strategic Business Integration:
- Develop and implement a data science strategy that aligns with the company's business goals.
- Identify opportunities where data science can enhance business decision-making, efficiency, and profitability.
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to apply data science methods effectively in a business context.
- Business Solutions and Model Deployment:
- Collaborate with business leaders to understand their challenges and design data science solutions that address these needs.
- Oversee the deployment of machine learning models and ensure they are integrated into business processes to deliver measurable results.
- Performance Measurement:
- Establish and monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness and ROI of data science initiatives.
- Use data-driven insights to recommend adjustments and improvements to business strategies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with product, engineering, credit, and operations teams to ensure data science models are aligned with overall business strategies.
- Facilitate communication between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding and effective implementation of data solutions.
- Innovation and Best Practices:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science and AI.
- Promote adopting best practices in data science methodologies and tools to continuously improve the quality and impact of the data science team’s work.
What we are looking for:
- Educational Background:
- Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience:
- Professional Experience:
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in data science or a related field, with significant experience in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of applying data science techniques to solve real-world business problems and drive business outcomes.
Skills and attitudes
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL, and experience with big data technologies like Databricks and Spark.
- Business Acumen:
- Deep understanding of business processes and the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on practical business applications.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
