The Role

The Tax & Transfer Pricing Sr Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the tax planning, tax compliance, and tax advisory within our company in Mexico, Colombia and US. The primary objective is to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance, adherence to tax laws and regulations, and successful execution of tax projects. The role involves leading a team of 2 professionals to maintain a high level of efficiency, compliance, and internal advisory. This position reports directly to the Global Controller.

Main responsibilities

  1. Prepare the global tax strategy and execute it properly at the market level.
  2. Business partnering and main point of contact with several internal teams like People Operations. Product, Tech, Data, Accounting, among others.
  3. Ensure connection between the teams for fast decision-making process and governance
  4. Handle the relationships with tax advisors in Mexico, Colombia and the US.
  5. Tax advisory support for product launching and specific subjects of the BAU.
  6. Monitor tax law changes or new business requirements.
  7. Tax compliance review and approval.
  8. Attention to tax letters and preparation of the documentation that answers them.
  9. Evaluation of tax risks that could affect every geography.
  10. Address and manage tax audits queries and report findings in collaboration with the service provider.
  11. Follow up with Transfer Pricing advisors of the main intercompany transactions and preparation of the TP study.
  12. To lead the tax team in potential M&A transactions across every business.

What we are looking for

Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA, Tax Certification, Master or Specialization in Taxes is preferred.
    • Proven experience (minimum 8 years) in tax compliance, tax advisory and tax planning, specifically Big4 (with solid background in Financial Industry) / Banks / SOFIPO / SOFOM. This is a must to have requirement.
    • Strong understanding of Mexican tax laws.
    • Experience in managing projects within the international scope
    • Previous experience managing tax projects in the Financial Industry in Mexico.
    • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
    • Preferred if have knowledge of indirect tax setup in ERP systems and tax determination process & configuration
    • Ability to analyze and interpret complex business situations and propose potential solutions.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and other soft skills.

    • Strong analytical skills to identify and address complex tax issues (compliance, planning and advisory).

    • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team towards achieving common objectives.
