The Role
As a Sr. Data Governance Specialist at Stori you will be responsible for defining, implementing and monitoring the correct adoption of policies, procedures and good practices for our analytical data with the focus of continuously improving its reliability, discoverability, observability, traceability and access control. You will have to interact with different data owners, data users and other stakeholders to identify gaps in data governance good practices, support and train data teams in the implementation of the proposed solutions in early stages and push for adoption of these solutions across the company.
Main responsibilities:
- Standardize the data lifecycle, from creation to deprecation, and help data owners classify their data according to this standard.
- Define and implement the data governance framework in the whole organization
- Identify and document data owners at individual and team level. Define and implement solutions that enforce the continuous update of data owner documentation.
- Establish role and responsibilities for all parties involved in the continuous documentation and monitoring of analytical data to contribute with their discoverability and reliability.
- Identify the company's data domains, their owners, and their organization into our Data Warehouse.
- Establish data access procedures to minimize exposure of sensitive data to data users.
- Standardize data monitoring good practices and data incident management procedure to minimize data downtime and improve data reliability.
- Establish data purging procedures with clear rules of when data can be deleted to stop the proliferation of unused data.
- Evaluate, select, and lead the implementation of data governance tools (i.e. Data Catalog, Data Observability), and ensure their adoption and proper use.
- Develop and deliver training programs for data governance best practices to increase organizational awareness and competence.
- Continuously monitor the adherence and effectiveness to the data governance initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Hybrid Model
- 3+ years of experience implementing Data Governance solutions in a dynamic and fast growing organization.
- Proven past experience as Data Engineer, Data Analytics Engineer or other data related role.
- Past experience dealing with PII and data privacy regulations.
- Proven experience working with Data Catalog tools (Atlan, DataHub, etc) and Data Observability/Quality tools (Monte Carlo, Soda, etc)
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Advanced written and spoken communication skills in English
- Past experience in the financial sector is a big plus
