The Impact You Will Have:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Tax to join our leadership team. This pivotal role will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the organization’s tax function as we continue to scale our business globally. The successful candidate will have a passion for partnering with the business to minimize tax exposure/risk and drive value for the organization. This is a senior leadership position within the Finance organization reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and will interface with other senior leaders and board members on a regular basis. This position is an in-office position based in Austin, TX.

What You Will Do Daily:

  • Develop and implement global tax strategies and policies to optimize the company’s tax position, minimize risks, and support business objectives.
  • Provide strategic guidance to tax structures, advising leadership in strategic decision making with products and jurisdictions new entrants, mergers and acquisitions restructuring and providing tax guidance to ensure business budget and planning accounts for tax assumptions and considerations.
  • Oversee all aspects of quarterly and annual financial reporting for income tax and manage worldwide GAAP tax provision, tax reserves (ASC 740 and ASC 450).
  • Provide strategic and execution guidance on transfer pricing and its policies and related documents as required in all jurisdictions where the company operates.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of tax compliance, including the preparation and filing of tax returns, reports, and other required documentation.
  • Implement and execute tax policies covering all tax matters including employment tax, global tax audits and tax assumptions as required to be incorporated in project assumptions.
  • Lead legal entity rationalization, tax equity buy-out and application of consolidated return regulations.
  • Own related process narratives and internal controls ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations at the local, national, and international levels, and assess their potential impact on the company’s operations and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, operations, and commercial teams, to integrate tax considerations into business decisions and initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external advisors, authorities, and other relevant parties to support the organization’s tax objectives and interests.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the tax function, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance effectiveness and scalability.

The Experience You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., Master of Taxation, JD) and/or professional certification (e.g., CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in corporate taxation, with experience in a public company environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in tax laws, regulations, and principles, with a focus on US GAAP.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, drive results, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and being hands-on, with an ability to make decisions, start executing, and course correct as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, able to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions.
