Why should I Apply:
At Sonar, we’re a group of brilliant, motivated, and driven professionals working hard to help organizations build responsible, secure, high-quality code quickly and systematically. We build solutions that don’t just solve symptoms of problems – we fix problems at the source – source code, to be specific.
We have a dynamic culture with employees worldwide and hub offices in the USA, Switzerland, the UK, Singapore, and Germany. We believe team members should have the opportunity to come to work every day, work on a product they are proud of, love what they do, and feel energized by their peers. With our roots deep in the open source community, we’re all about the mission: provide solutions that deliver Clean Code.
The impact you will have
As an Instructional Designer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing engaging, high-quality training experiences that empower customers to adopt and maximize the value of Sonar’s solutions.
Working closely with Customer Success, Product, and Engineering teams, you will create impactful learning content that helps customers improve code quality, security, and maintainability using Sonar solutions. Your work will contribute directly to customer success, retention, and product adoption.

On a daily basis, you will

  • Design and develop engaging learning experiences that enable customers to effectively use Sonar products.
  • Apply instructional design models and adult learning principles to create interactive e-learning courses, instructor-led training (ILT), and blended learning programs.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible, and engaging learning materials.
  • Create multimedia learning assets, including video tutorials, simulations, knowledge checks, and infographics.
  • Develop structured learning paths and educational programs that guide customers from onboarding to advanced product usage.
  • Ensure all training content aligns with Sonar’s branding, messaging, and product positioning.
  • Measure and analyze training effectiveness, using data to continuously improve learning experiences.
  • Stay current on developer workflows, DevOps best practices, and software development trends to ensure training materials remain relevant and impactful.

The skills you will demonstrate

  • Proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or technical training, ideally in a SaaS or enterprise software company.
  • Strong proficiency in learning design software and content creation tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Experience working with learning management systems (LMS - Absorb) and SCORM/xAPI standards.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts and translate them into engaging, user-friendly training content.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and engagement.
  • A customer-first mindset, with a passion for helping users succeed with Sonar’s products.
  • Familiarity with developer workflows, the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and DevOps practices is a plus.
