Our Austin development squad is looking for passionate Cloud Engineers to support the fast growth of the company. By joining our squad, you will be a key player in one of the multiple teams at Sonar that needs Cloud Platform capabilities.
The impact you will have
By joining one of the teams, you will leverage your experience and expertise to design and develop Cloud-based solutions or migrate existing applications to Cloud-native ones. This means implementing massively scalable services, automating all systems operations, measuring, continuously improving the service quality, and making the lives of other developers easier. To achieve this goal, we are looking for talented Cloud Platform Engineers.

On a daily basis, you will

  • Create, enhance and operate Cloud-based solutions with automation, security, scalability, disaster recovery, costs and performance in mind.
  • Work in sprints in a cross-functional team.
  • Perform and automate operational tasks such as deployments with a DevOps mindset.
  • Deliver new features into production.
  • Create proofs of concept.
  • Document as-is and future state solutions to ensure evergreen documentation is maintained.
  • Collaborate with SREs to enhance operational resilience, scalability, and observability.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders (Product managers, Engineering managers, data-related roles, Release engineers, etc.) to make sure solutions fit into the Sonar ecosystem.
  • Document and share reusable building blocks.
  • Investigate alarms, issues, and incidents when they are escalated.
  • Own testability of the infrastructure (deploy, validate, tear-down).
  • Ensure that all services operate within a given region.
  • Participate in AWS Well-Architected Reviews and Trusted Advisor findings resolution.

The technical skills you will demonstrate

  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud (ideally AWS) development and architecture.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services, including Cloudformation, SNS, SQS, CloudWatch, Lambda, AWS ECS, SDKs, and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS data/file storage services.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS Networking.
  • Proven proficiency in Designing, Developing and maintaining cloud solutions.
  • Strong DevOps Mindset with the knowledge of Software development life cycle.
  • Advanced understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code technology and terms.
  • Experience with at least one of the programming languages like Python, Java, C++, C# or similar.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Bash or similar.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.

Nice to have

  • 7+ years of experience in IT.
  • AWS Solution Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer or other valid, relevant certifications.
  • Experience working with AWS CDK.
