Recruiting Lead
Somethings
About Somethings
Somethings is building the first social wellness platform for teens — a place where a teen can form a real relationship with a mentor who gets them, sticks with them, and helps them get better.
25 Million teens in the U.S. are struggling with their mental health. Every one of the thousands of teens who downloads Somethings is struggling. Our job is to make sure they don’t just show up — they stay, connect with real humans who care deeply about them, and get the support that they need to thrive.
We’re backed by General Catalyst and world-class healthcare + consumer investors, and we’re growing like crazy — in 2025 we grew 1100%, raised our $15M Series A, and are on track to 5x in 2026.
If you want to be a part of the generationally defining company in mental health, welcome home.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Head of Recruiting to build and scale the team that builds Somethings.
This is not a passive “run a hiring pipeline” role. This is a company-builder role.
You will own recruiting across:
our core HQ team
engineering, product, and design
growth, operations, and leadership roles
our nationwide mentor workforce
You will build the systems, brand, and candidate experience that takes us from 15 → 100+ people over the next two years.
The work is high ownership, high urgency, and deeply mission-driven:
You will be responsible for bringing in the people who support millions of struggling teens.
What You’ll Do
You won’t just “fill reqs.” You will architect how Somethings finds, evaluates, and wins talent.
1. Build our recruiting function from the ground up
Design and own our end-to-end hiring process
Build systems, dashboards, interview loops, and scorecards
Select and implement recruiting tools, ATS, and sourcing platforms
Define quality bars and ensure we never compromise on them
2. Own hiring across HQ and mentor recruiting
Recruit top-tier operators, product and engineering talent
Scale nationwide mentor hiring in partnership with clinical ops
Create processes that maintain quality at rapid hiring velocity
Build high-diversity, mission-aligned pipelines
3. Build the Somethings talent brand
Tell our story to the market — candidates should feel our mission
Develop outbound campaigns to attract exceptional people
Turn employees and mentors into advocates and referrers
Represent Somethings at events, universities, and community spaces
4. Partner closely with leadership
Work directly with the CEO and exec team on org design
Forecast headcount and hiring needs tied to revenue and contracts
Advise on comp bands, leveling, and offers
Ensure hiring aligns with company strategy, not just open roles
5. Create an unforgettable candidate experience
Build a process that feels warm, fast, and respectful
Ensure every candidate leaves feeling seen and valued
Train interviewers on structured, equitable evaluation
Close exceptional talent in competitive markets
Who You Are
You have 5+ years of recruiting experience, including senior or leadership roles
You’ve built or scaled recruiting in startup or high-growth environments
You’ve successfully hired across multiple functions (not just tech or ops)
You know how to design structured, fair, scalable hiring processes
You are both strategic and hands-on — happy to source, sell, and close
You are a clear, direct, and warm communicator
You care deeply about mission alignment and values-driven hiring
And most importantly:
You believe that who joins a company determines what it becomes.
You wake up wanting to bring extraordinary people into work that matters.
Bonus Points
Experience recruiting in healthcare, mental health, or social services
Experience scaling both HQ teams + large distributed workforces
Knowledge of compliance considerations for clinical or youth-serving orgs
Background in employer branding or talent marketing
