As a Snap Engineering team member, you’ll help us build the future of communication.

We’re looking for an IT Application Engineer to join our Fintech Team in the London Office. In this role, you’ll primarily support Financial Applications that underpin our billing systems and Augmented Reality (AR) hardware research and manufacturing operations.

You should have a thorough understanding of the team’s overall goals and be comfortable collaborating with key stakeholders across various projects and tasks. A strong background in development, analytical thinking, and customer-facing communication is essential. You should also have a solid grasp of Finance applications and hands-on experience implementing back-end solutions in medium to large-scale systems. A strong sense of ownership, a track record of building back-end solutions, and the ability to propose innovative ideas are critical for success in this role.

What you’ll do:

  • Design & Build highly scalable applications for complex systems and high-quality tools.

  • Tackle engaging and complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment, delivering solutions that empower our Finance teams.

  • Work with product managers to drive strategic and tactical initiatives.

  • Iterate and implement solutions quickly while balancing speed and quality.

  • Learn and grow under the mentorship of senior engineers, adopting best practices to support the highest levels of engineering excellence within the team.

  • Provide front-line support to Snap staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, with the ability to design, develop, and optimise software solutions.

  • Technical background and hands-on experience in building backend apis, systems architecture, object-oriented design, web frameworks, and patterns.

  • Experience with software development and integration of cloud applications.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a strong foundation in debugging and optimizing systems

  • Ability to transform user needs into technical and functional requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of experience,

  • 3+ years of experience coding in Python, Go, Java, or a similar language.

  • Experience in building applications and APIs for internal users and external vendors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Finance and prior exposure to any ERP system is a plus.

  • Experience working with high-load services or distributed systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimise performance.

  • Strong understanding of database concepts with Relational and No-SQL database management.

  • Ability to work independently on tasks while collaborating effectively within a team.
