Content Infrastructure owns, operates, and evolves the foundational systems powering Snap’s Content Products - Friend Stories, the Discovery Feed, Spotlight, and Creators and Publishers tooling and support. It’s a group of teams spanning Client Foundations, to Core Stories Metadata systems supporting source of truth lookup, management, hydration, and serving at scale, to Content Delivery and Ranking infrastructure systems powering the funnel of L0, L1, L2, and L3 retrieval, ranking, and business logic at scale to deliver personalized content feeds to clients, in addition to the data infrastructure layer for content quality and feature engineering.
We’re looking for a Software Engineer, Tech Lead to join Content Infrastructure at Snap
What you’ll do:
Work with other senior ICs to design, architect, and implement high-scale hybrid-cloud architectural solutions across Content Products
Work across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver the solutions needed to build innovative products.
Advocate for and apply best practices when it comes to availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management
Technical influence that spans the entire company
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience with backend services or distributed systems

Experience in at least two of the following areas:
Large-scale microservices and distributed systems
Information Retrieval/Search Systems
Machine learning for search and/or recommender systems
Building and evolving high-scale APIs between modern mobile clients and backends
Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at significant scale
Experience with Go, Java, and/or C++
Ability to collaborate and work well with others
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience
14+ years of software development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience architecting and building Go services in production
Experience in GCP and AWS
Experience in working on e2e solutions across backend and client
Delivering cost optimization and performance optimizations
Past delivery of large scale migrations or re-architecture projects that spanned many teams and organizations
Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): The base salary range for this position is $265,000 - $385,000 annually.
Zone B: The base salary range for this position is $252,000- $366,000 annually.
Zone C: The base salary range for this position is $225,000 - $327,000 annually.
