Trade Operations Analyst

The company behind Sleeper, the app that brings people together over sports, is looking to hire a Trader Operations Analyst to be focused on our futures contract market. This person needs to be a highly detail-oriented and dependable individual. This role is critical to ensuring post-trade operations and regulatory compliance. This is an in-person position based in our New York City Office located at 530 7th Avenue.

Sleeper: connecting people over sports

Sleeper is a social games and messaging platform for sports and esports. Our mobile app and website help strengthen friendships over sports by delivering users a platform where they can chat with friends about sports content and compete with one another in naturally social games such as fantasy sports and tournament brackets. The games on Sleeper’s platform consist of free-to-play games including season long fantasy leagues and bracket games (e.g., March Madness), and year-around paid-entry daily fantasy sports contests of skill. Sleeper has been the fastest organically growing sports app in the U.S. over the past couple of years and has more than five million users on its platform. Candidates for this role should have 2-4 years of professional experience in trade support or operations at a bank, excellent reconciliation and problem solving skills, strong understanding of the trade lifecycle, settlement, and regulatory frameworks, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

The individual in this role will be involved in all facets of the company’s prediction markets business. She or he will be responsible for overseeing trade settlement, managing segregated funds and cash balances, preparing and submitting daily regulatory reports, and maintaining direct communication with exchanges and clearing houses.. He or she must have a keen attention to detail and experience reconciling trades and financial records. They must be a team player with the ability to work with multiple parties.

Trade Settlements

▪ Oversee daily trade settlement activities for futures contracts.
▪ Manage the segregation of client and firm funds in accordance with regulatory requirements.
▪ Monitor and reconcile segregated cash balances across multiple accounts and currencies.
▪ Prepare and submit daily regulatory reports to ensure compliance with financial regulations and agency requirements.

▪ Interface daily with clearing houses and exchanges to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely processing.
▪ Investigate and resolve trade breaks or settlement issues with urgency and accuracy without leaving issues unresolved.
▪ Maintain and improve internal controls related to futures trade operations.

▪ Highly persistent and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to thoroughly investigating and resolving reconciliation breaks without leaving issues unresolved

Additional Responsibilities

▪ Provide operational support to the team member responsible for managing user cash flows and balances

▪ Assist with cash movement monitoring, including internal transfers, payments to users, and funding requests

▪ Help reconcile user account balances and investigate any discrepancies in cash activity

▪ Demonstrates strong judgement and attention to detail in identifying unusual activity or potential fraudulent behavior, escalating concerns appropriately to mitigate risk

▪ Act as a backup for user cash operations during peak periods and employee absences

Blitz Studios is a small company with big aspirations – the person in this role must be a self-motivator and strong communicator. The issues the person in this role will be challenged to resolve have long tails and many stakeholders; s/he will need to be kindly persistent with internal and external stakeholders and will need to summarize intricate, multi-faceted issues for management.
