We are looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to join our Paris-based People Team and support our Engineering squads. In this hands-on role, you will partner directly with leaders, managers, and employees in France to support team performance, career development, and daily people topics. You will play a vital role in translating business priorities into practical actions while helping to simplify our internal processes and rituals. Joining a collaborative team of three, you will contribute directly to the health, engagement, and sustainable growth of our Engineering organization. Because of the highly collaborative nature of this role, it is expected for this HRBP to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

What Your Impact Looks Like

At Shift, we value ownership from day one. In this role, you will:

  • Build Trusted Partnerships: Develop strong relationships with Engineering leaders and managers to understand team dynamics and translate everyday challenges into practical people actions.

  • Manage French Employee Relations: Apply deep knowledge of French employment law to manage employee relations topics and oversee CSE management with structure and fairness.

  • Make Processes Simpler: Streamline HR processes, documentation, and ways of working to remove unnecessary complexity for managers and employees.

  • Coach and Enable Managers: Coach leaders on feedback, performance management, conflict resolution, and communication to help them become autonomous, confident people leaders.

  • Spot Emerging Trends: Listen actively to feedback, detect recurring organizational patterns, and address underlying risks before they escalate.

  • Collaborate Across the People Team: Partner with the broader People Team on cross-functional initiatives like compensation reviews, organizational design, and employee lifecycle improvements.

  • Solve Issues Without Drama: Handle sensitive situations, disagreements, and organizational changes calmly, transparently, and with high emotional intelligence.

What You'll Need to Succeed

We are looking for a Shifter who is…

  • An Experienced HRBP: You bring solid HR Business Partner experience, ideally from a fast-moving technology, SaaS, or data-driven scale-up environment. Although you will primarily support France, multi-national experience is a plus. You enjoy working close to the business and solving concrete problems. You can listen beyond the surface, and navigate different perspectives without causing drama. You build trust through fairness, clarity, discretion, and consistency.

  • An Expert in French Labor Law: You possess practical expertise in French employment legislation and feel comfortable navigating compliance and employee relations. You know when to bring structure, when to escalate, and when to seek legal partnership.

  • A Growth-Minded Professional: You are motivated by complexity and look for opportunities to continuously learn, test new ideas, and adapt to organizational changes.

  • Bilingual in French and English: You communicate confidently in both languages, allowing you to manage sensitive local conversations and align smoothly with global teams.

  • A True Team Player: You naturally share context, ask for input, offer help, and view human resources as a collective team effort rather than a solo territory. You are open to supporting different populations or topics when needed.

  • Pragmatic and Adaptable: You balance strategic conversations with operational follow-up and do not need everything to be perfectly defined before taking action.

  • Structured and Clear: You bring organization and consistent follow-through to your work, making processes easier and more accessible for everyone. You know that scale-up environments require adaptability and good judgment, not heavy process for the sake of process.

What Success Looks Like

After a few months, you will have built strong trust with leaders and employees. You will be seen as a reliable partner who brings clarity, calm, and practical solutions. You will help managers handle people topics more confidently, including difficult conversations. You will also contribute to a stronger HRBP team dynamic by sharing context, improving ways of working, and supporting the broader People agenda. Most importantly, you will help us create an environment where Shifters can work well together, grow, and perform sustainably.

Interview Process:
