Staff Industrial Engineer
Senra Systems
At Senra Systems, we believe that the future of manufacturing lies not in automation, but in configuration.
We supercharge electrical wire harness manufacturing through software configuration, transforming skilled assembly tasks into high-throughput production lines. We enable customers to design what they want, when they want it and deliver harness builds at record-breaking speed.
We're seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to architect and optimize our factory operations as we scale, defining production systems from the ground up while refining existing processes for our expanded facility. This is a high-impact role where you'll have the opportunity to shape our production systems end-to-end, working directly with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and COO to implement world-class processes for high-mix, low-to-medium volume wire harness manufacturing.
You'll split your time between hands-on production floor analysis and strategic planning work - conducting time studies, optimizing material flow, refining our new facility layout, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact our bottom line. This role reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and works cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams.
What you'll own:
Facility Layout & Flow Optimization (40%)
- Refine and optimize the 100,000 sq ft facility layout as we transition from R&D into volume-based work
- Design material flow systems that minimize handling, reduce queue times, and eliminate bottlenecks
- Help define product families and develop cellular manufacturing layouts optimized around them, implementing and refining cells on the floor to support high-mix production
- Create facility layout drawings and flow diagrams using AutoCAD/Visio
Time Studies & Line Balancing (30%)
- Establish time standards for wire harness manufacturing processes (cutting, stripping, crimping, assembly, testing, etc.)
- Conduct detailed time studies to identify inefficiencies and surface automation opportunities, owning ROI analysis across manual, hybrid, and automated solutions
- Balance production lines and workstations to optimize labor utilization
- Develop capacity models to support production planning and quoting
Process Improvement & Analysis (30%)
- Lead cross-functional improvement projects targeting cycle time reduction and throughput gains
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in production flow and interdepartmental handoffs
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Analyze production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Work collaboratively with engineering team members on optimization initiatives
What you'll bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of Industrial Engineering experience in manufacturing environments
- Proven track record implementing process improvements in high-mix, low-to-medium volume production
- Strong proficiency with facility layout tools (AutoCAD, Visio, or similar)
- Experience conducting time studies, establishing work standards, and line balancing
- Proficiency in data analysis tools including Excel, SQL, and basic coding to independently pull, analyze, and present production data
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams
- Hands-on approach - comfortable spending time on the production floor gathering data and understanding processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making
- Strong communication skills to present findings and recommendations to leadership
Bonus Points:
- Blended experience across 0-to-1 startup environments and high-volume manufacturing operations, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics
- Experience in wire harness, cable assembly, or electromechanical assembly manufacturing
- Familiarity with aerospace/defense manufacturing standards and requirements
- Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated application of continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with simulation software (Arena, FlexSim, or similar)
- Background in regulated manufacturing environments (AS9100, IPC-WHMA-A-620)
Compensation:
- Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
- Salary Range: $160,000-$200,000
- This is an onsite role at our new facility in Cypress, CA.
Benefits:
