Job Description

Section is an AI transformation company that helps organizations get real value from generative AI. AI-powered workforces will have a sustained competitive advantage over the next decade, but most of the workforce is unprepared. We help organizations plan their AI transformation, upskill their workforce, and integrate AI into their workflows and business processes – all with the goal of driving real productivity gains and ROI. Our goal is to bring a million workers into the “AI class” by 2026.

We’re hiring a Senior People and Talent Lead to own the people engine behind our next phase of growth. This role sits at the center of how we hire, support, and scale our team and you’ll be the one designing the playbook.

You’ll build and run a scalable people infrastructure that spans recruiting, People/HR operations, and the systems that tie it all together. This is both strategic and deeply hands-on: you’ll set the bar for hiring excellence, bring structure and clarity to how we operate, and nurture a high-performance, high-trust culture that not only attracts exceptional talent, but keeps them excited to stay and grow.

Candidates must be U.S.-based and reside in one of the following states: AK, CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, MA, ME, NY, PA, TX, & WI.

What you’ll do:

People Operations & HR Foundation

  • People Systems Design: Source, evaluate, and lead the implementation of core People Systems, including configuration, basic reporting, and driving company-wide adoption.

  • Policy and Documentation Management: Create and manage documentation for the company (handbooks, expense policies, hiring templates) to have clear guidance and reference materials for employees.

  • Compliance & PEO Coordination: Coordinate with our PEO on all compliance and people operations matters. Serve as the day-to-day HR contact, ensuring compliant processes and documentation (benefits, leave, state requirements, I-9s, contractors terms/SOW).

  • Employee Lifecycle: Design, run, and continuously improve streamlined onboarding and offboarding processes for all employees and long-term contractors to ensure new hires ramp quickly and consistently.

  • Performance & Compensation: Coordinate and run company performance reviews twice a year. Support compensation design with Finance and leadership by researching market data and maintaining simple, clear level/band frameworks to keep titles, levels, and offers aligned with our agreed structure.

  • Employee Support & Issue Escalation: Serve as the first point of contact for routine people questions (policies, PTO, benefits, payroll), and escalate complex issues to appropriate parties.

  • People Data Management: Maintain clean and accurate people data (headcount, org structure, location, employment type, titles) and share actionable insights with leadership.

Talent Acquisition & Recruiting

  • Strategic Talent Partner: Partner with leaders and Finance to forecast headcount, prioritize roles, and build proactive, diverse pipelines that support current needs and future growth across all teams.

  • End-to-End Recruiting Excellence: Own and continuously improve the full recruiting lifecycle, from sourcing and screening to coordination and offers.

  • Business Partnership: Serve as the key recruiting contact for hiring managers, recruiting partners, and leadership, offering consultation on role needs, market trends, and long-term hiring strategy.

Who you are:

  • AI-first mindset: We are hiring AI-first candidates that have or will reinvent their role and tasks with AI for greater efficiency and quality.

  • 5–7 years of progressive experience, including 3+ years as a full-cycle recruiter in a startup or high-growth environment.

  • Proven track record of sourcing and placing high-performing candidates quickly in growing companies.

  • Experience supporting and building people operations in a lean startup environment (PEO coordination/management, HRIS ownership/administration, compensation benchmarking).

  • Comfortable moving fast and building process as you go, with a highly collaborative working style.

  • Process-driven but flexible about what matters at our stage.

  • BONUS: Background in SaaS or professional services in a high growth startup.

  • BONUS: Have previously built and designed recruiting processes from the ground-up.

  • BONUS: Have previously recruited and managed people ops in a remote workforce company.

Compensation

$135,000–$150,000 salary based on experience, plus equity.
