Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.
As a Data Analyst, you will serve as the primary data partner to the Mission Operations Engineers, responsible for turning raw mission, system, and operational data into clear, actionable insights that support execution, planning, and continuous improvement. This role sits at the intersection of field operations, engineering, and reporting by owning post-mission data workflows, tracking asset and personnel utilization, and providing visibility into mission performance and operational health across test sites. You will deliver reliable analyses, utilization reporting, and incident tracking, enabling engineers and leadership to make informed decisions quickly and keep the organization aligned as operations scale.
Responsibilities:
- How you support the mission
- Maintain a mission operations data dictionary and KPI definitions (metric definitions, calculations, assumptions, and source-of-truth systems) to ensure consistent reporting across sites and teams
- Create automated or semi-automated anomaly detection and alerts (e.g., downtime spikes, utilization bottlenecks, repeated incident categories, missing data) to surface operational blockers early
- Enable rapid post-test decision-making by transforming raw mission and system data into actionable insights for daily, weekly, and program-level decision forums in the form of reports
- Integrate external constraints (e.g., site restrictions, weather impacts, access limitations) into operational reporting and proactively communicate impacts to stakeholders
- Partner closely with Mission Operations Engineers to understand test objectives, mission profiles, configurations, and success criteria prior to data collection
- Track and analyze vessel utilization, personnel allocation, and test-site activity to provide visibility into operational capacity and efficiency
- Track incident review items and asset downtime across test sites, maintaining accurate records and ensuring issues are routed to the appropriate forums for review, prioritization, and action
- Support administrative and planning functions by producing utilization reports that inform resourcing decisions, test scheduling, and cross-site coordination
- How you support the team
- Reduce analytical and reporting burden on Mission Operations Engineers by owning post-mission data download, organization, and initial analysis by developing and maintaining on-going dashboards and self-serve views tailored to specific audiences
- Deliver timely, accurate summaries that allow engineers to quickly assess mission outcomes and focus on follow-on actions
- Interface with Mission Ops Engineers to translate raw operational data into insights tailored to different audiences, from engineers to department leadership
- Enable the department to scale by standardizing and automating recurring data and reporting workflows
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting open communication, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years in a data analyst, operations analyst, or similar role supporting technical or operational teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using enterprise software (Salesforce, Palantir) to track operational data, issues, and workflows to enable follow-on action
- Experience with test management platforms (TestRail, Nominal, Foxglove) to support test execution tracking and results reporting
- Experience with data management and analytics platforms (Databricks) to query large datasets and develop insights or dashboards
- Experience with cloud-based environments (Amazon AWS), for data access, storage, or analysis workflows
- Experience and ability to work with structured and semi-structured data formats in the form of MCAP and JSON files
- Experience with project management tools (Linear, Confluence, SharePoint) to support task tracking workflows, prioritization and cross-team coordination
- Experience extracting and analyzing information out of massive, complex and, in some cases, poorly documented datasets
- Experience validating data integrity, handling incomplete or inconsistent datasets, and maintaining traceability across data sources and reporting outputs
- Familiarity with metrics associated with maritime operations and autonomy systems, including DoD requirements and standards for autonomous systems
- Strong track record in creative and complete reporting to influence others across organizational lines, internally and externally; must be able to showcase previous reporting efforts via portfolio
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations to team members, internal customers and management
- Proficiency with documentation and communication tools, (Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Lucidchart) for producing clear reports and briefings
- Ability to work both autonomously and as a team in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment; capability to prioritize multiple ongoing projects
- Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries
- Demonstrated history of self-learning & application of newly learned tools & techniques
- Strong track record for achieving results; must be able to reference wins and quantify impact
