Responsibilities:
- Lead environmental management compliance including but not limited to:Air permits, Hazardous and Industrial Waste, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and Spill Prevention Countermeasure and Control (SPCC) inspections and management tasks.
- Lead environmental compliance assurance program and identify, assess, and control environmental risks to ensure Saronic operates in compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Support air permit compliance including record keeping, air emission source testing, and periodic air emissions and compliance reporting.
- Prepare and submit environmental reports including, but not limited to, Tier II Chemical Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), and annual waste summary to state and federal agencies.
- Manage the hazardous and industrial waste compliance assurance program including completing waste determinations, classifications, profiles, and associated reports.
- Oversee water pollution prevention programs including construction and industrial stormwater pollution prevention, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan (SPCC) and wastewater discharge permits.
- Perform environmental inspections, support agency interactions, and utilize EHS systems and tools to issue recommendations and corrective actions to responsible stakeholders.
- Provide Environmental impacts training and education to employees at all applicable levels of the organization, including new hire orientation, ongoing training, and specialized training for high-risk activities.
- Support EHS team initiatives and responsibilities including regulatory reports, inspections, or information requests; internal audits; emergency drills; management system improvements; and program development and assessments.
- Stay current on emerging Environmental regulations, trends, and best practices, and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders within the organization.
- Develop individual and team objectives and key results and track progress towards completion.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or Environmental-related discipline; professional certifications (e.g., QUISP, CHMM, P.E.) preferred or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in Environmental or EHS, preferably in boat/maritime, aerospace, or general manufacturing or industrial environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Previous experience preparing Tier II, hazardous waste, air emissions inventory reports in Texas, California, or Louisiana.
- Experience supporting and managing regulatory/agency inspections and interactions including EPA, TCEQ, CalEPA, DOT, etc.
- Minimum of 5 years managing muti-media environmental compliance programs.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective Environmental programs and initiatives, with a focus on regulatory risk and NOV reduction/avoidance.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex situations, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions.
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS software applications for data management and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Additional Requirements:
- Position occasionally requires the ability to work overtime and weekends when needed.
- Role requires up to 15% travel between sites in TX, LA, and CA with opportunities to travel to other US cities.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional standing and walking within the office.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
- Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports.
- Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies.
- Lifting and carrying items up to 35 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages).
