About the job:

Sanas is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Speech Data Annotation Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for listening to and annotating speech data to fine-tune and improve the performance of our accent-translation algorithms. As part of our Analytics team, you will work closely with our Linguists to provide high-quality labeled data for training and testing our speech models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow established guidelines and quality assurance procedures to ensure the accuracy and consistency of annotated data
  • Listen to audio recordings to evaluate synthetic speech data on naturalness and intelligibility, and identify issues, errors, and inconsistencies in translation
  • Label and annotate speech data with relevant information, such as phoneme mismatches, robotic artefacts, and hallucinations
  • Communicate effectively with team members to resolve issues and provide feedback on the annotation process and suggestions for improvement


Requirements:

  • Native or near-native fluency in English
  • Excellent listening and comprehension skills
  • Excellent ability to follow guidelines carefully and complete time bound tasks with efficiency
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus for extended periods
  • Comfortable working with technology and learning new tools and software
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in linguistics, English language, ELT, ESL, or related fields


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with accents or English language training (e.g., CELTA, TEFL, TESOL)
  • Experience with annotation schemas, edge cases, guideline development, and guideline maintenance
  • Experience with transcription using the International Phonetic Alphabet
