About the role:
Telematics is Samsara’s second largest (and original) business. Our product is used by customers of all sizes and in a variety of industries throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. We help customers manage their fleet operations, with real-time tracking and data gathered from vehicles (and sensors) in the field and ingested into our cloud-based platform. Through features spanning routing, maintenance, fuel management, electrification and sustainability, analytics/reporting, mobile device management, compliance with ELD regulations, and extensive 3rd party integrations with our APIs, we are the comprehensive solution and platform for the world of physical operations.
We are looking for an experienced Product Manager with a strong background in tachographs and compliance solutions to lead the development of Samsara's next-generation compliance product for the EMEA and UKI markets. This is a pivotal role that will focus on delivering a best-in-class compliance solution and building a comprehensive tachograph analysis product that addresses the unique regulatory landscape in the region.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of tachograph systems, European and UK compliance requirements, and how to leverage data and technology to streamline fleet management and driver compliance. You will collaborate closely with engineering, design, and regional stakeholders to ensure Samsara's products meet the needs of our customers and regulatory bodies.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and execute the strategy to grow Samsara’s tachograph and compliance business in EMEA and UKI. This includes identifying opportunities for regional expansion and innovation by leveraging telematics data to build best-in-class compliance and tachograph analysis solutions.
- Partner with Go-To-Market (GTM) and Business Operations teams to research market opportunities, particularly in compliance and fleet management. Translate insights into a prioritized product roadmap that drives regional growth and expands Samsara’s addressable market in EMEA and UKI.
- Collaborate with the Legal team to ensure Samsara’s product strategy aligns with regional compliance requirements, leveraging regulatory tailwinds and maintaining a competitive edge in the market. Stay ahead of upcoming regulatory changes to proactively shape product offerings.
- Utilize telematics data and machine learning insights to drive innovation and deliver data-driven insights that can be surfaced internally and to customers, enhancing the value proposition of Samsara’s compliance and tachograph products.
- Work closely with the Engineering team to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products that meet both compliance requirements and customer needs. Ensure seamless collaboration between the tachograph product line and other product groups to address interdependencies.
- Lead quarterly and annual planning processes for your product teams, including managing input from GTM, Legal, and Support teams. Prioritize feature development and product improvements to align with business objectives and customer needs.
- Collaborate across product leadership to share your product roadmap, align on priorities, and drive forward Samsara’s product-focused initiatives. Be an advocate for the compliance and tachograph product line, ensuring alignment across the organization.
- Partner with customer-facing teams to support strategic accounts, manage escalations, and maintain strong relationships with key customers. Ensure that customer feedback and needs are integral to product development and iteration.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Experience in product management within a large-scale software development organization, ideally with a focus on telematics, compliance, or fleet management solutions.
- Strong technical acumen and the ability to grasp complex concepts related to tachographs, compliance, and telematics. You should be able to establish credibility with engineers and technical teams.
- Proven track record of delivering results for customers and driving business impact, especially in compliance-driven environments. You thrive in managing complexity, meeting bold deadlines, and are action-oriented when tackling challenges.
- Experience setting strategy for technical product areas, with a data-driven approach to measuring progress, making investment decisions, and prioritizing product development initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to customers, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- 10+ years of experience in relevant product, technical, or business roles, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in the fleet management, telematics, or compliance sectors.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
An ideal candidate also has:
- Experience working with tachographs, telematics, or in the automotive sector, with a strong understanding of the compliance landscape in EMEA and UKI.
- Experience working in a compliance and legal environment, particularly in regulated industries where adherence to evolving laws is critical.
