About the role:

The Platform group at Samsara provides the world’s best end-to-end software experience for physical operations. We provide reliable and secure infrastructure to power the platform and all of Samsara’s products, enable outstanding user experiences across core surfaces like our web portal and mobile apps, deliver core customer-facing features that span the platform, and extend the power of Samsara with developer tools and a rich ecosystem of pre-built integrations. The Platform group is divided into 3 pillars representing each of these focus areas — Core Infrastructure, Core Experiences, and Data & Extensibility.

As a Sr. Director on the Platform team, you’ll be responsible for our Data & Extensibility area. Today, this spans 3 main areas:

  • Reporting & Analytics: Our reporting platform includes out-of-the-box ‘native’ reports, as well as custom reports, that help customers analyze their data across all Samsara product lines. We’re investing heavily in this area, with long-term plans to create a full analytics suite, as well as features for recommendations & benchmarks within the Samsara Platform.
  • Alerts & Automations: Our alerting platform enables customers to configure customizable alerts based on IoT events to monitor their operations and take action on their data in an automated way, enabling them to harness data at massive scale. We’re evolving this platform into a general Automations solution for both internal product teams and customers to build trigger/event workflows.
  • Developer Ecosystem & Integrations: Our Developer Ecosystem includes APIs & Webhooks that power customer-built integrations, as well as a marketplace of more than 270 partner integrations. We’re also looking to take this to the next level by growing our ecosystem & deepening the types of integrations customers & partners can build on Samsara.

This role will have direct P&L responsibility for one Platform license, with strong potential to expand the portfolio of Platform ‘products’ within this charter.

You’ll report directly to Samsara’s VP of Product for Platform. You’ll also partner with colleagues across Product, Design, Engineering, as well as cross-functionally with our Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.

In this role you will:

  • Partner with customer-facing teams to close strategic accounts, resolve escalations, and maintain relationships with top customers.
  • Contribute to improving the practice of product management at Samsara, in particular, improving how Platform teams collaborate with product line teams.

  • Bias-to-action and a proven track-record of delivering outstanding results for customers & the business on tight timelines. You’re not afraid to get your hands dirty writing product specs and jumping on calls to support the sales team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be comfortable presenting to customers, internal audiences, executives, etc. Should also feel very comfortable writing clear and concise strategy documents that will be reviewed at all levels of the organization.

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience building products & platforms for developer partners.
