About the role:

The Procurement Operations Supervisor is responsible for all areas pertaining to procurement operations. Your main responsibilities will be managing procurement operations, supervising the ProcOps team in their day-to-day activities, and supplier setups. You will partner and collaborate with several departments within Samsara (Accounting, Operations, IT, Financial Systems, etc.) and external vendors to ensure timely and accurate processing of purchases. You will be a key contributor in developing and implementing standardized, scalable, and efficient procurement processes and related systems while maintaining quality, accuracy, internal controls, and compliance.

Procurement Operations is part of the overall buying process and the role reports into the Manager of Procure to Pay.

In this role, you will facilitate:

Procurement Management

  • Manage purchase requests and complete supplier setups in our ERP.
  • Create Purchase Orders.
  • Amend Purchase Orders as instructed by management.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable to streamline the Procure to Pay process.
  • Drive the continued adoption of our procurement solutions and processes
  • Assist with accruals due diligence for the monthly close process

Team Supervision

  • Manage and develop team members to meet key metrics.
  • Act as point of escalation for procurement operations and business process owners to ensure timely remediation of issues.

Outreach and Cross-Functional Initiatives

  • Challenge our suppliers, employees, and profession to enable a simple Procure to Pay process
  • Partner with Security, Business Technology, and Legal teams to facilitate new supplier screenings
  • Work with our Supplier Community to drive automation and to improve supplier performance
  • Manage and maintain the relationship between the internal customers and vendors while focusing on growing positive relationships with our suppliers

Reporting and Month-end Close

  • Build and maintain Procure to Pay dashboard and metrics.
  • Reconcile account statements.
  • Support the monthly closing process.
  • Assist with the preparation of comprehensive analyses, schedules, and Procurement presentations.

Process and Systems

  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and recommend changes and improvements to the accounts payable processes and systems to ensure scalability.
  • Document ProcOps processes, ensuring compliance with Procurement policies and internal controls.
  • Maintain and perform relevant SOX and operational controls.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and internal controls.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of people management/supervisory experience.
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Able to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner with business stakeholders.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Able to assist with issue identification and resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Familiarity with the budgeting and financial close processes.
  • Technical knowledge of financial and procurement systems such as Netsuite, Oracle iProcurement; ZipHQ, or Coupa.

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience working at a publicly traded company is preferred
