About the role:
We are seeking a Software Applications Engineer who can troubleshoot issues across our Safety solutions stack (full-stack, firmware, & hardware) to join the Software Product Support Engineering team as a Product Support Engineer - Safety. This role will work cross-functionally to troubleshoot complex customer issues, support our customer-facing Global Technical Support teams, as well as provide R&D teams with customer insight and feedback to improve our products.
This role can be office-based or fully remote in Mexico.

In this role, you will:
- Identify and resolve complex issues related to our Safety solution for post-sales customers across the mobile app, dashboard, and hardware products.
- Analyze product support trends and partner with the R&D team to build a world-class customer solution
- Serve as a subject matter expert and educator to our Global Technical Support team.
- Lead post-mortem analyses to identify learnings, root causes, systematic patterns that need attention, improvement opportunities, and relevant trends.
- Work closely with engineering to resolve product bugs and handle customer-facing outages.
- Every few weeks, you will be in a 24/7 on-call rotation
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Obsess Over the Customer, Build for the Long Term, Growth Mindset) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical discipline, such as computer science or software engineering
- 5+ years of experience supporting or developing a product with distributed systems and a solution stack, including software and hardware.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated resourcefulness, creativity, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
An ideal candidate possesses:
- Experience with C/C++ or similar programming languages
- Experience with querying languages (e.g. SQL) and scripting languages (e.g. Python)
- Familiarity with data analytics tools such as Databricks and Tableau
- Knowledge of front-end and back-end development
- The ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and understand system boundaries to help isolate where problems could be occurring.
