Samsara’s Security DevOps team is responsible for the security, compliance and continual maturation of Samsara’s public cloud networks. Using industry best practice approaches, we will pave the path toward secure-by-default configurations, easing security and compliance burdens for our partnering product teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Own Cloud Network Architecture & Security:
    • Ensure cloud-hosted resources are secure, scalable, and highly available (DNSSec, Security groups, DDPS protection)
    • Update and maintain a clear network map and architecture
    • Provide guidance around service mesh, network structure, and best practices for load balancing.
    • Design, Implement and manage scalable security controls and automation in public cloud environments (AWS).
    • Architect integration between 3rd party services and native AWS constructs like, VPCs, Security Groups, NACLs etc.
    • Proactively monitor and enhance secure transport reliability, scalability, resiliency.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 3+ years of experience as a networking engineer
  • Experience securing cloud networks (VPCs, ACLs, Security Groups, iptables)
  • Hands-on experience with firewall configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience with network security principles and technologies (e.g., TCP, ARP, BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS)
  • Understanding of security weaknesses, exploits, attacks and mitigations
  • Experience designing a DMZ network.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues by analyzing packet captures and reviewing audit logs.
  • Proficiency in a programming language (Python or Go preferred)

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience with multiple Public Cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Cloud Platform certification like AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty, AWS Certified Security - Specialty highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and desire to collaborate across teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot security-related issues.
  • Experience with performance optimization as applied to cloud network infrastructure
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance
