At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

At Relativity Space, we're entering an exciting new chapter under the leadership of Eric Schmidt, focusing on pioneering advancements in aerospace technology. Guided by a vision to redefine space exploration, our team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what's possible on Earth and beyond. As we pursue ambitious goals like building humanity’s industrial base on Mars and becoming America’s leader in additive manufacturing, our investment in world-class data systems has never been more critical.

The Data Warehouse team plays a foundational role in this mission by building and maintaining the core data infrastructure that powers the entire organization. This includes developing and managing end-to-end data pipelines, robust storage systems, and enterprise analytics platforms, along with tools for data modeling, visualization, and business intelligence. Our team collaborates with nearly every department across the company including engineering, finance, and operations, to ensure seamless data flow and informed decision-making.

As we embark on groundbreaking initiatives in 3D printing and AI-driven manufacturing under Eric Schmidt's leadership, this team sits at the heart of it all turning raw data into actionable insights that drive innovation forward. If you're excited about building advanced data solutions for diverse stakeholders and bridging the gap between complex datasets and meaningful outcomes, this is the team for you.

About the Role:

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a technical leader responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining the most critical components of our analytics data platform. This role requires deep expertise in modern data stack technologies and the ability to collaborate with senior leadership across the organization to deliver enterprise-scale data solutions.

  • Design and architect scalable, reliable data infrastructure solutions for enterprise-scale requirements
  • Make key technical decisions regarding data platform technologies, patterns, and best practices
  • Lead performance optimization initiatives across data pipelines and storage systems
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools for the data stack
  • Discover, assess, and integrate complex data sources via database connections, APIs, message queues, and streaming platforms
  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade data pipelines using Airbyte and orchestration tools
  • Develop sophisticated data models and transformations in Redshift using advanced dbt techniques

Our Data Stack:
Airbyte, Argo, dbt, Redshift, PowerBI, Grafana.

About You:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with demonstrated progression in technical complexity and responsibility
  • Proven experience architecting and implementing large-scale data solutions in production environments
  • Expert-level experience with cloud data warehouses, including performance tuning and optimization
  • Advanced proficiency with dbt for complex data transformation, modeling, and testing
  • Strong experience with workflow orchestration tools (Argo, Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster) including pipeline design and optimization
  • Expert programming skills in Python and SQL, with ability to write efficient, maintainable code

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience with streaming data technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar)
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Experience with multiple ELT/ETL tools and ability to evaluate trade-offs between different solutions
  • Multi-cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure) with deep knowledge of at least one platform
  • Strong background in data governance, security practices, and compliance frameworks
