Who We Are Looking For
As the Director of Machine Design Engineering at Re:Build Optimation, you will lead and manage the Machine Design Engineering group. Your responsibilities will include personnel management, employee development, workload management, project management, strategic planning, and providing technical support to sales and marketing for machine-related opportunities. A strong emphasis is placed on Roll to Roll manufacturing technology.
What You’ll Get to Do
- First Point of Contact: Serve as the initial contact for new opportunities presented to the Machine Design Engineering group. Review client requests, determine project feasibility, and assign resources for investigation. Provide technical oversight.
- Workload Management: Ensure proper staffing levels for the group and keep workload plans updated. Actively participate in weekly utilization meetings and collaborate with other Group Directors and company staff.
- Personnel Management: Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and developing group members. Conduct performance appraisals, track performance, set goals and training plans, and handle disciplinary actions or terminations as needed.
- Safety Assurance: Prioritize safety in all team activities.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Act as an expert in Machine Design and Building.
- Roll to Roll Conveyance Leadership: Lead efforts in Roll to Roll conveyance technology.
What You Bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 10-15 years of hands-on experience in machine design engineering of custom machines. (emphasis on Roll to Roll and web conveyance and processing systems).
- Project management experience with multidisciplinary projects over $1MM.Manging budgets and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Knowledge of coating technologies, pre-coating preparation, coating station design, and various coating methods and hardware (e.g., gravure, slot die, rod and blade).
- Experience with machine design and build projects (e.g., automation, robotics, conveyance, vision systems, assembly, packaging).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Mathematical skills for performing engineering calculations.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address practical and technical issues with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Compensation Range
Annual salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000 to $160,000, plus participation in our annual bonus plan and long term incentive plan. The actual pay may be higher depending on your qualifications and experience.
Location Requirements:
Position is based in our Rush, NY office and our teams work 100% onsite.
