Accounting Manager | Construction | Medford, OR

Location: Medford, OR (onsite, 5 days a week, with some flexibility on hours)

Compensation: $90,000-$100,000 base salary plus discretionary annual bonus

About the Opportunity

A construction company in Medford, OR is looking for an Accounting Manager to own the accounting function and lead a small, developing team. You’ll work directly with the CEO on budgeting, forecasting and cash flow, and you’ll have a real shot at growing into the Controller role.

This is a hands-on leadership seat. Your team is eager and loyal but green, so the right person enjoys teaching, building process and raising the level of the department. You’ll also play a key role as the company moves from Sage 300 to Acumatica.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the month-end close and make sure every balance sheet account is reconciled and buttoned up
  • Prepare and maintain WIP schedules and project profitability projections
  • Oversee payroll, including union payroll and multi-site payroll
  • Manage intercompany transactions
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting, partnering closely with the CEO
  • Manage cash flow and give leadership clear visibility into where the company stands
  • Manage and develop a team of three: a new payroll specialist, a project administrator (20 years with the company) and an AP clerk who was recently promoted from the front desk
  • Document and improve accounting processes, and keep the team’s work organized and on schedule in Asana
  • Support the transition from Sage 300 to Acumatica

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of leadership experience, including managing and mentoring staff early in their careers
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance highly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience owning a full month-end close, with balance sheets that tie out
  • Strong construction accounting skills: WIP, job costing and project forecasting
  • Experience with payroll oversight, ideally including union and multi-site payroll
  • Experience with intercompany accounting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Familiarity with Sage 300 and a comfort level with moving to a new ERP like Acumatica
  • A detailed, process-oriented approach, and comfort using a project tool like Asana to run a team
  • The ability to communicate financials clearly and confidently to a CEO
