Historical Architect – Level II / Level III

Location: Kansas City, MO

Salary: $72,000–$92,000

Travel: Local and national project travel

About the Opportunity

A nationally recognized architectural firm specializing in historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse is seeking a Historical Architect – Level II or Level III to join its Kansas City team.

This is an opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of commercial, government, historic, and adaptive reuse projects ranging from smaller studies to projects valued at more than $30 million.

What You’ll Do

• Coordinate projects with architects, PMs, engineers, historians, and consultants
• Produce construction documents and technical drawings
• Develop feasibility studies, assessments, and technical reports
• Perform field investigations, measurements, photography, and existing-building documentation
• Work on Historic Structure Reports and condition assessments
• Support historic preservation, rehabilitation, restoration, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and government agencies
• Participate in construction administration and site visits
• Prepare specifications and technical documentation
• Maintain strong quality control and attention to detail
• Work across multiple projects and project teams
• Travel to project sites throughout the Midwest and nationally

What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years of professional architecture experience
• 8+ years for Level III consideration
• Bachelor of Architecture required; master’s preferred
• Architectural license
• Commercial architecture experience
• Historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, or adaptive reuse experience
• Strong proficiency in Revit
• Excellent technical and report-writing skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Willingness to travel for project needs
