Senior Project Manager – Commercial Electrical

Location: Ocala, FL

Work Setting: Approximately 99% office-based

Salary: Up to $200,000 base for the right candidate + bonus

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager – Commercial Electrical to quarterback the commercial project management operation for a growing electrical contractor in Ocala.

This is still a true project management role — the difference is the level of ownership. You will oversee the PM team, help determine how projects are staffed, manage manpower and resources, monitor project financials, and make the day-to-day decisions needed to keep projects moving.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, estimators, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams while providing leadership and accountability across the commercial division.

This is an excellent fit for someone who understands both the field and the numbers and is ready to take ownership of a PM operation.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee and quarterback the commercial PM team while continuing to manage projects.
  • Take ownership of projects after the estimating/new-business handoff.
  • Determine PM, Foreman, and manpower assignments based on project needs and workload.
  • Monitor budgets, labor, man-hours, WIP, billing, costs, and margins.
  • Hold PMs accountable for both project execution and financial performance.
  • Review project performance and identify issues before they impact schedule or profitability.
  • Coach and mentor PMs while helping strengthen financial accountability across the team.
  • Oversee projects from turnover through closeout, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, billing, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot manpower, material, scheduling, subcontractor, GC, owner, and field issues.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for the PM team and make decisions without unnecessarily escalating issues to company leadership.
  • Coordinate manpower, material requirements, long-lead items, and upcoming project needs.
  • Work with estimators, PMs, Foremen, warehouse personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and operations.
  • Use project data and financial reporting to make informed decisions.
  • Maintain a practical, field-minded approach to project execution.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–7+ years of commercial electrical project management experience.
  • Approximately 3+ years at a Senior PM, Lead PM, Project Executive, PM Manager, or similar leadership level.
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical construction.
  • Experience overseeing or mentoring other Project Managers is highly valuable.
  • Strong understanding of manpower planning and resource allocation.
  • Experience owning project budgets, WIP, labor, man-hours, billing, costs, and margins.
  • Strong scheduling, procurement, change order, RFI, and project closeout experience.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and solve problems without constant escalation.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working primarily from the office while maintaining a strong understanding of field operations.
  • Comfortable learning and using technology and project-management systems.
  • Procore experience preferred.

Backgrounds That Could Translate Well

We are open to candidates who have progressed through the electrical field and into Project

Management/Senior PM leadership. Experience with healthcare, education, institutional, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects is valuable.

A background involving residential or service work alone would not be the target for this position.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Up to $200,000 base salary for the right candidate
  • Performance-based PM bonus opportunity
  • Florida Blue medical plans
  • Dental and vision
  • Company-paid $50,000 life insurance
  • 401(k) with 100% company match up to 3%
  • 2 weeks PTO after 90 days
  • Additional 2 weeks PTO after 1 year
  • Take-home truck
  • Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate

Why Join This Team

This is an opportunity to step into a position with real authority and ownership over commercial project execution.

You will have a direct impact on how projects are staffed, how manpower is managed, how PMs perform, and how the division protects its financial results. The environment is relaxed, family-oriented, and heavily influenced by people who have worked their way up through the field.

The goal is not to create a corporate environment — it’s to bring stronger leadership, accountability, and financial discipline to an already strong field-driven operation.

You’re still a PM — you’re just the PM who oversees the PMs.

Looking forward to your application!
