Senior Automation Engineer | Food & Beverage Process Controls
About the Opportunity:
Join a highly respected engineering and automation firm specializing in process controls and automation solutions for leading food & beverage manufacturers across North America. This is a unique opportunity to work on projects ranging from facility upgrades to large-scale greenfield manufacturing plants while maintaining significant autonomy and ownership over your work.
What You'll Do:
- Lead automation and process control projects from design through startup and commissioning.
- Design and support PLC, HMI, and process control systems within food & beverage manufacturing environments.
- Travel to customer facilities throughout the U.S. (approximately 50%) to support installations, startups, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, plant operators, maintenance teams, and engineering leadership.
- Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and pneumatic systems.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and mentor junior engineers as a technical resource.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- 7-10+ years of Controls, Automation, or Process Controls Engineering experience.
- Strong experience with: Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs, Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk / RSView
- HMI systems and industrial networks
- Deep understanding of pumps, valves, instrumentation, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Comfortable with approximately 50% overnight travel.
Preferred Experience:
- Food & Beverage manufacturing
- Dairy processing (ice cream, cheese, yogurt, etc.)
- Systems integration environments
- Startup and commissioning of process control systems
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $125,000 - $145,000/year
